Out with the japanese junk (aka my Yaris)...

In with a proper boat puller.

There's almost a grand of work on the Yaris. What an epic piece of crap. The dealer is NOT going to be happy when they see how much needs to be done!

And all I can say is that I am absolutely DONE with Toyota. Lotsa stuff gonna put up for sale folks, keep an eye on the classifieds on YW.

On the other hand, I just about stole that truck. Poor dealer, squeezed her proverbial nuts to the last penny.

(And before some idiot spouts off about FE... All the other shit that it needed does not equal what it cost in downtime and repairs... Besides. I drive about 300-400 miles... A month. Should I start driving more, I have an old beater 2000 Jetta four-banger, five-speed.

If you were pulling a boat with the Yaris, no wonder you had problems.

Just kidding. However, I am curious as to what problems you had with the Yaris. I haven't had mine long and I am wondering how it will hold up over time. I haven't had any issue so far with mine, but I haven't put many miles on it.

Honestly, a little fourteen-footer with a 9.9 Merc was alright. So long as I had a solid (concrete/paved) ramp.

Let's see:

-Numerous "ghost" check engine lights.
-Air box which about rattle itself into pieces.
-A new catalytic converter (I pray for the bastard that has to pay that out of pocket )
-Deforming panels
-Clear coat peeling off in giant chunks.
-Bearings. Bushings. Struts. All present before I started towing
-I think the steering rack is gonzoes...
-Factory belt blew up at 40K miles.
-Dieing coolant pump.
-Windows rattle like crazy on mildly warm days with the windows partially open. "That's normal" says 'yota.
-Suspension geometry design defect which makes you lose your (expensive) front hub caps at a absurdly-fast pace.
-Issues with driver's power-door lock mechanism (recent).
-Factory tires wearing at a scary rate.

I think I covered most of it. I totally, 110%, believe my car was the one they started friday afternoon at 3pm, and finished monday morning at 9am. Even Dodge can't produce that level of junk on a normal work day.

This is above and beyond the basic flaws like thin paint, etc.

I also am a new landlord. Bringing 3000lbs of concrete bags just wasn't going to happen with my Yaris, even with a trailer.

That bites about the Yaris issues. Seems as though you had a lemon. They happen to all companies.

Loving the truck though!! Eco-boost version?

So you are saying your Yaris has (had) problems.

But overall you understand the YARIS is one of if not the best built small car on the market today? You're not saying theyre all like that?

Right?

Yep, the stats don't lie.

But the way I was treated by Toyota, however, was completely unacceptable. They basically denied at every turn and "level" that I could have such a lemon. They can go blow a goat, quite frankly. Last Toyota I'll EVER buy.

I vote with my wallet folks!

No eco-boost (did they even have it for '09?) Test drove a new EB F-150 on the dealer's lot, very snappy, LOTS of boost, but I'd never recuperate the cost of it. I'll be lucky to burn up a tank of gas with this new truck.

I did end up buying an extended warranty (at cost). I've come to realize if it has tits, tires, or floats, it's gonna break!

LOL.

I know how you feel Firemachine. Laking Toyota are crap after you buy the car trying to get anything done.

I've had alignment issues since a year after I had the car, where it constantly pulls to the right and Toyota said there was no issue. To this day it is still happening and I cannot figure out why.

I too have issues with steering/suspension (just recently changed a wheel bearing). Then again, our winters are very harsh to vehicles, I am already starting to see rust forming on the rocker panel underside.

Since I am local I want dibs on anything cool :D

my bro in law has a 2010 f150. at 8,000 miles it had to have the entire transmission replaced. now it has an electrical problem where it won't start half the time. you have to use the keyless entry to lock and unlock it several times before it will start.

firemachine69,

Sorry that happened to you. I bought a 100,000 mile extended warranty for my Yaris. Kind of always regretted doing that, but after your story, maybe not. I've had zero problems with my 2010 Yaris thus far, and have around 10,300 miles on it.
I'm no expert, but it seems American car companies have a better rep with their trucks compared to their small cars. So, I'm sure you'll do fine with your F-150. Be that as it may, the way you feel about Toyota is the way I feel about American cars. I've owned so many crap American cars that were in the shop constantly that I refuse to ever buy an American car again. Ever. Probably kind of irrational on my part, but hey, my experience is my experience. Best car I ever owned was a used 1999 Corolla. Zero problems and I probably shouldn't have sold it. So, I'm hoping to have similar luck with my Yaris.
Good luck to you.

I wouldn't bet on your Jetta being as reliable as your lemon Yaris. I'm being serious, I've owned a Jetta.

Ha! His Jetta is already 7 years older than his Yaris, and he is quite willingly calling it a beater.

Make sure they send the Yaris further west when they go to resell it ok? Try to tell them to not send it SE ok???
