Today I just picked up my 08 CPO with less than 20k on the odometer. Very excited to have a new commuter with good MPG!

Question about suspension...

Does anyone sell the springs already on the struts so I don't have to mess with compressing the springs?

Did some searching so I apologize if I overlooked the obvious...

as far as I know I haven't seen that combo, but you can easily DIY with some spring mcpherson compressors and a socket wrench

Check with Garm at Micro Image, you might be able to work out a deal with him.

I'm thinking about switching things up and going with the Tokico HPs and Tein S-Tech combo. I don't need adjustability (never use it), but still want a sporty, good-looking combo.

Thanks for the heads up. I am in San Antonio area, but go to Dallas every once in awhile.

What about lowering springs (such as Tanabe or TRD) being used in conjunction with the stock shocks? I wonder because I feel like I have seen a lot of people here get lowering springs but not mention changing their shocks at all... so I wonder if that is a bad idea in the long run, or would it be OK?

Running some mild drop springs with stock struts is fine I believe

^ it's fine to just do springs. The only downside is that if you want to upgrade your shocks/struts later, you have to do all the work over again.

And that to get the maximum benefit of upgrading either springs or shocks/struts, they should be done together.

I am currently using stock shocks with Tanabe DF210's and the ride is very comfortable.

if you are on a budget and dont have a couple g's lying around to just throw down on your yaris then save and do the whole combo the first time. You'll save so much money and time and headaches.

I asked this because I thought I saw something on YW a while ago advising against doing this. But it seems like most of the responses here said it would be fine. However, in just now Googling "lowering springs on stock shocks", I came across a lot of results that seemed to indicate that it probably wasn't a great idea, especially in the long run...

I looked at using new parts to create a complete TRD spring/strut combo and keep my OEM spring/strut assemblies intact but found it much, much cheaper to simply buy, or rent a strut spring compressor than to pay the high prices of Toyota for the necessary parts. If I recall correctly the upper strut bearings were close to $90.00 each from Toyota Canada and this is just one of the parts I'd have needed. I bought a top-o-line compressor on sale for $29.00.
In fact, for the price of the duplicate parts you could have the stealership do the install cheaper.
