need opinion-caliper paint - Toyota Yaris Forums

I have a blazing blue metallic yaris liftback with 16" wheels.

I'm thinking about painting the drums and calipers so it keeps looking good with time ( rust, dirt, etc). The thing is that with the wheels I have you can clearly see the drums and calipers...I want it to have a good clean look!

Wich color would you pick: Blue? Red? or clear? (clear gloss made by vht for brakes and calipers).

I saw a black yaris with red drums and calipers and I think it looks good...but I'm not sure how it would look on a blazing blue one...

need your opinions

Id go BLACK. Maybe match just the front caliper's in Blazing Blue, but painted drums I always though, looked really goofy!

At least black everything, will blend in nice, and wont look like the dirty stock caliper/drum color that you get over time.

Just my 0.02

actually that's exactly why I was confused...I don't really want the "honda civic rice goofy" look

...maybe I'll go with clear...the car is new so there is no dirt or rust on calipers and drums...

I'm going with black for the drums...I was more unsure about the color I want to use for my calipers...but I'll go for black or metallic to keep the clean factory look.

no... I simply don't want to wait till there is rust on it. It is easier to paint the brakes when they are brand new, no rust and no dirt to get off.

you could always have them Powdercoated..there are some BAD AS$ FIREMIST metallic powdercoat clearcoats that will make the black COME ALIVE!!! black with firemist silver/gunmetal flecks would be SWEET!!!

Not everyone wants to spend 60 dollars to have each brake drum powder coated. Money much better spent on things that make the car drive better... or beer.

well, then you shouldn't spend a dime since it actually hurts your Caliper's ability to dissipate heat by painting with Old Fashion Paint. you can get Cerametallic paints/powdercoats that could actually help performance by providing better heat exchange...but y'all don't mention that stuff either..
and it doesn't cost $60 per drum to powdercoat

if you were to clean and prep the parts yourself most Powdercoaters wouldn't charge your more than $50 for all 4 corners..

or you can spray them with a rattle can..whatever floats your boat.
I WAS JUST OFFERING an alternative that WILL LAST 10X as long..

Well...I say if your car is a daily driver, not a track car, there is no need to put that much money on brakes and calipers. My brother uses "Old Fashion Paint" for his brakes and never had any problem with it. I've decided to go with High Temp Paint just to be sure the paint doesn't melt...it cost me 10$!

I think the the money you spend on a car all depends on how you are using it.

If you're a daily driver and you are looking for something that will maintain your car look good...I say go for High Temp Paint.

If you're looking for performance because you're planning on driving your car harder than how you normaly should...then I say go with powdercoat or even better...high performance brakes.

well...
you can always paint a portion of the drum in the same color as your caliber...
and leave the rest of the drum black...
that way, it can look as if there are caliber at the rear...
