Question need help for toyota vitz

hi i have toyota vitz auto 2000 1 Lt imported. there is small red button on the gear base if any body know about this plz reply i dont have manual book.

could be a shift lock override, but i would need image to be sure...

Na, the vitz is an older model the flip up cover came with the newer yaris models.

He said auto in the original post. In that era a lot of cars had a button to switch the transmission programming between "Economy" with earlier upshifting and lower RPMs and "Sport" with later upshifting and quicker downshifting to keep the RPMs up. A lot of cars had a button to lock out the overdrive top gear in Drive, too.
