Two Mountain Bikes in a Sedan?
Hey Yaris Folks,
This looks like a cool forum! I bought a 2009 Yaris 4 door sedan last year. I've started triathlon training this month and just offered to give my friend a ride to our group bike training this Saturday. Then I realized...it's a bit of an effort to maneuver just my bicycle into the back of my Yaris. Is it crazy to think that I could fit TWO bicycles? Has anyone managed this? Should I look into bike racks? (I get the sense these are more for hatchbacks than sedans). Is it hopeless? I bought my car more for the occasional long commute rather than as a sporty sort of vehicle, so maybe it's just not built for carrying two bicycles and I need to accept that. Would love the advice of the experts. Thanks so much! |

I fit two bicycles in the trunk of my sedan for a trip last summer. We got both bikes and a week's worth of clothes in the car. I don't remember either one of us having to move our seats up all the way either
![]() Definitely take off the front wheels, and I'd recommend taking off the pedals too. We didn't take the pedals off, but it would have made things a lot easier. Welcome to the forum! |

You could add a 1 1/4" receiver and a hitch mount rack.
Check etrailer.com for the hardware.

You may be able to get them in if you take off both wheels. Be sure to put some blankets down for grease, etc. I managed with one bike in my Corolla, so probably doable.
If you think you'll be doing this often, of even for just your bike, I've had good luck with a Saris Bones 2 rack. It fits sedans fine, as all the arms adjust. |
