When to shift

Hello Everone,

I'm bringing up a topic already discussed in this post, http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5979.
It says to never let the RPMs rise over 2k or 2.2 for merging. As some of you know I'm new to yaris and I'm new to the manual world. So my shifting is really crappy, and not smooth. I usually shift at 2.5k because I kind of let the RPMs drop trying to find the catch point between shifts. Should I try the 2k shifting?
