Dammit not again!
Well I've been really busy the past few months with my business working 7 days a week and putting mad miles on my Yaris since my business is mobile.
Monday I'm 30 miles from home on site. I leave my car parked visible from the road because it's kind of an icon here and has my business and phone number on the side. Well it started raining and I was inside, came out and found my precious had been smacked into, messing up my drivers side fender and pushed my wheel in so bad my alignment is majorly messed up. No witness, no note, not even paint from their bumper. I'm guessing from how far up it was hit someone in a truck or SUV just barely slid into me and took off. Insurance is taking care of everything, and since it was a hit and run I only have to pay $300 to get it fixed. I was put down for a new wheel, fender, side marker light, strut, and some other stuff. They're even fixing the damaged vinyl on my door even though it wasn't related to the accident (parking lot mishap) and keeping the wheel because the only damage to it was some paint was scraped off and applying the cost of a new wheel to my deductible. I am now driving my new girlfriend's Pathfinder (the GF is new, not the pathfinder) and really missing my Yaris. Damn thing feels like a hopped up go-kart vs. the 15 year old pathfinder. Anyway, here is the pics. Body shop has instructions from my insurance to make this repair a priority since its my business vehicle and it's a mobile business. Also this incident has reminded me I only have one vehicle so I've taken my 250cc scooter to the locksmith shop to get a new key made after I lost my original key well over a year ago. |

Sucks to not catch the perp. I'd be pissed too. Glad your insurance is taking care of it at least.

Lol didn't think of that! Perhaps I'll run down there for a plug, I mean side shot
Yeah it sucks but there is a large portion of drivers around here that don't have insurance and it's only gotten worse with the economy. I'm sure who ever did it hadn't bothered to get insurance and decided the "better" course for them was to take off and not bother with the cops. My insurance has treated me really good, all the towing was paid for and it looks like my out of pocket really wont be that bad. The shop I took it too is the same shop (local toyota dealership) a couple winters ago when I got hit and got the new bumper and hood from Garm. I wish they had hit my rear bumper because I still have the RS rear bumper in my garage waiting to get installed along with the side skirts. I'm going to have my cousin who has his own shop a few hours away do those for me. My Dad jokinly commented on my facebook page that I should paint my car bright orange in hopes maybe people will stop running into it. This is my 4th incident involving insurance. Three with front end damage and one with the fireworks inside the car. Even after all this I love my Yaris more and more each time I have to drive something else. |

orange is good.
Now I wish I had the vented fenders in stock -- it's going to be several weeks before they get here.

lol lucky it isnt your front bumper! It might be a good idea to think about fender braces, who knows how that hit could affect your car's handling.

It it was hit hard enough to bend the strut there's a possibility the bearing in the hub is damaged too, I'd inquire on having it replaced too.

With all these incidents, perhaps you should be mounting multilple video cameras.
That way, we could see the perp....and don't forget microphones....we could have heard the fireworks! Sorry for the careless drivers you have down there. We have them up here, too. Luckily, I haven't had an issue.....yet. |

Short story short for him, someone dropped fireworks inside his car (left a little crack in the window for ventilation) and his entire interior was messed up.
