I've had my 2008 Yaris since June of 2010, and I love it, I've known about this site since before I bought it however I havent really browsed or posted, Here's some info on my yaris

2008 Red 3 Door
55000 miles (was about 45k when I bought it)

4 Speed Automatic (When I bought it I was uncomfortable with Manual but now I wish I went with manual, I might possibly convert if possible)

Basic as basic can get (Roll-up windows, no electric locks) but I think I like it that way for some reason

I was wondering, money not being a huge factor, what is the first thing I should do to it??? I want to get very familiar with the technical part of it, I would like to install a digital Speedometer (the standard one is off a little a reading of 70 is actually about 65) also would like a new audio system, but I am very open to more important or useful mods I should do first

lowering springs and a rear sway bar. It makes the handling 10 times better.

Thank you for the first post, another thing I should mention is I'm in NH where it will snow, and it will be heavy haha Pic is of last winter, luckily I was in Florida last Winter

Ah, lol. Well there are mild drop springs that give you enoguh clearance for snow.. assuming you're going to be on roads that are not knee deep in snow (in which case the yaris might want to just stay in the garage). But a rear sway bar hugs the rear axle so it doesn't reduce your clearance height. I'm not sure how well a RSB might work if your car isn't lowered a bit..

If you have a 60/40 seat, and have no use for it, you can easily rip it out and sell for $150. Gut out the rear portion of your car, and voila! Instant weight savings.

Don't feel bad, I actually lurked on this site for two years before actually registering. I also have the basic car, with manual windows and manual locks. I have no intention to ever trade in my car. So, I bought the most basic package possible, because I just kind of figured that the fewer moving parts on the car, the less I'll have to worry about repairing ten or fifteen years from now. One thing you absolutely must add is the mudguards. It'll protect your bumpers and fenders from scratches and dings should you hit a rock while driving on the highway.

Thanks for all the contributions, and to tehxfallen I have a 1 piece back seat and I need it anyway, if I only needed 2 seats I would have gotten a smart car =P

Mudguards are probably a good idea I think possibly the damage is done driving in muddy florida for a few months
