those of you who have HIDs

Do you guys disconnect the little bulb or leave it? what do you guys do with it, there's also the yellow light on the edge of the headlight housing, you guys keep it or remove it?

been lately having problems with my HIDs, wondering if it has to do with the little bulb. When I turn the HIDs on they would lit on and then immediately turns off. always takes the 2nd try to get them going. i have the relay harness already. my grounds are checked multiple times.

could it be the battery? although it is 5 years old is still going strong never had a problem?

I left the little bulb in mine. It's drawing such a minute amount of wattage that it really makes no difference. I kept the side bulb and reflector in as well. The reflector has to stay in for legality reasons, but I'm not sure if it has to remain lit. That bulb and the parking light bulb is the same 194 wedge, so those aren't the reason you're having issues.

When you turn the lights on for the first time, do they look like they flash and then turn right back off? Have you tried waiting a moment after that flash like I told you to in your last thread? HIDs when started cold take a moment to warm up. Sometimes up to 30 seconds. Mine flash real quick and then gradually increase to full intensity. It's the nature of the bulb. If yours do this, then there isn't anything wrong with them and you just have to get used to the system and how it works. They aren't immediate 100% from the moment you activate the circuit like LEDs are.

This is the small parking light in my housing. It's a small wedge LED.

This is a short video of the HIDs warming up. It's not as easy to see because it's the middle of the afternoon, but it should help. They warm up a little quicker here because I had just gotten home and if you notice, it's raining, so I had them on. See how they ramp up in intensity? That's what they're suppose to do as the gas inside the bulb ignites to create the light you see.

Hope this helps.

Your headlight looks really good!

No mine turns on for like half a second and then it shuts off immediately(no light, not warming up, no ballast sound, complete silence). I am guessing it is the ballast cuz i have already got the relay harness. I had someone ran a test for me today they told me the ballasts were bad also cuz they are suppose to ignite multiple times but my current ballast only ignite once.

I am getting some new ballast soon, so they might fix the problem.

BTW whats the size for the led wedge? I always wanted to get something like yours.

In that instance, the ballast might be going bad. If you've already done the harness, and your battery, grounds and fuses are all solid, then the ballast is really the only thing left, short of the bulbs themselves.

The LED wedge is a 194/168 wedge type. I had one that was 9 LEDs, but the ones in there now are just single LEDs. Any 194/168 numbered product will work fine in that little slot.
