Hello from the UK!

Hey there guys! Been lurking for a while, so thought i'd finally sign up and post some pictures of my car!

It's a 2008 Yaris SR 1.4 diesel... which means it comes with Fog lights, TTE spoiler, TTE lowering springs, TTE pitlane 16" wheels, scuff plates and a very fancy built in sat nav / bluetooth / stereo unit.

On Friday I had the TTE exhaust fitted, which I have to say looks fantastic!

Future plans include...

window tints
new air filter (if I can find one for the diesel engine!)
performance chip (25% extra power for £400? Yes please!)
rear sway bar (if it fits the UK car, and if I can find a vendor willing to ship to the UK....)
Front tower strut brace (if it will fit with the diesel engine...)
chrome sport pedals

and finally... a close up of the new TTE exhaust:

sorry if i've posted in the wrong forum!

Look forward to hearing your views and contributing in the discussions!

Cheers,

Very nice! I saw a lot of Yarii during my short business trip to the UK in January, but none as nice as yours!

And it is good to see the weather is a bit now there as well. It was crap the few days were were there!

BTW, what are the tint laws in the UK? I figure with the MOT, you can't get away with much, can you?

Cheers! M2

Thanks for the comments.

MOT's are only required on cars which are 3 years old, and window tints aren't strictly a testable item. However, the law says the front windows have to let in 70% daylight. No regulation for the back of the car though. MOT testers don't have the kit to test how legal the windows are - but cops now have the gear to test you at the side of the road. If you're illegal you're looking at points on the licence + fine, and the embaressment of the coppers peeling off the tints infront of you. Not cool!

Nice! The TTE Pitlane wheels are my favorite wheels on a Yaris.

Well the engine choices in the UK are the 1.0, 1.3 (or 1.33 as it's known now) 1.4D and 1.8.

I drove both the 1.0 and the 1.3 before choosing the 1.4... the diesel is quicker to 60 by about a second, but it's deceptively quick. Gathers speed really quickly. 0 - 60 sprints feel abit laboured as there's abit of low down turbo lag, but ingear acceleration is fantastic. 30 - 50 in 2nd comes about rather rapidly.

And to top it all off, the best MPG out of all the yarii... can't go wrong with that!

It may just be a 'placebo' effect, but since installing the exhaust the power seems to come in a lot earlier, and it pulls alot harder up towards the red line...

as for parts for it , i am not sure , but one would think the basic parts are interchangeable betwen models, and most Vendor's here ship all over the world .
Try talking to cali yaris (Garm) at Microimage , great guy and great products and serviceto boot.

Yeah I had a look at that site - looks great. When i've got afew more $$ I think i'll be investing in a rear sway bar...

Having a depressing time trying to find a performance air filter - having measured my current one it comes out at 310mm X 150mm... can't find anything that looks like it will fit - sad times!

Might just have to wait until the chip to get afew more horses under the bonnet...
