Toyota Camatte

http://dsc.discovery.com/cars-bikes/...kid-again.html

"Toyota is going to debut a new family-oriented concept vehicle at the International Tokyo Toy Show 2012 from June 14 through June 17. Toyota has named the concept “Camatte” and is aiming to bring delight to parents and children with the toy concept.

The goal of the Camatte is to convey the joy and dreams of motor vehicles to current and future drivers, by providing an opportunity for parents and children to experience together the fun of driving, car customization and car enthusiasm. The Camatte comes in two versions, the Sora and the Daichi. The Camatte Sora takes on more of a coupe-like style, while the Daichi is more truck-like with its tan exterior.

According to Toyota the concept features a customizable body with easily removable and installable body panels and enables the adoption of a wide range of color and design combinations. Toyota also says that the interior features a triangular seating arrangement with reduced distance between the single, center-positioned driver’s seat and the two rear seats to emphasize family intimacy and facilitate parent-child communication, thus creating a fun space to enjoy driving. The pedals and seats can also be positioned to enable a child to pedal the car, while a an adult seats in the rear-right seat assists with steering and braking.

Aww to be a kid again…"

But seriously, that's pretty sweet!

I'd drive the top one, except I'd like it in flat OD green, with black rims. And whatever the heck those weird bright green things are, should be black.

The top one looks like something the Japanese Self Defense Force would have in their line up of military vehicles. I would definitely trade my car in for it, but it would have to be olive drab.

Could this be a preview of the next-gen Aygo (or similar)?

Toyota could really use a global car like the Aygo- smaller than the Yaris but not as "premium" as the iQ.

Sounds to me like these are just really big pedal-powered cars? Kid's gonna need some strong legs to move the family along!
