Can't go wrong with a Fit. I like the first gen better tho. Sell your Yaris instead. You'll probably get more money out of it instead of trading it in.

I prefer the Yaris myself, but there is def a little more room in the Fit. I've spent a couple of weekends driving a coworkers Fit because he had to borrow my truck, he has a first gen sport with the paddle shifters. I like it, but the Yaris just seems more fun to drive to me... Plus I like the looks of the Yaris better.
Can't go wrong with either though. |

Never been a fan of the Fit... maybe because it rhymes with a not so pleasant word, heh.
(just kidding) but I've never really like the looks of it.

That's fine . For each their own taste . We e-mailed another offer last night and haven't heard a word . Most likely they'll shoot it down . Don't get us wrong , we do enjoy the 3 door in the B.B.. Very sharp lookin' car . They only offered $8,000 for a trade at first . Really peed us off . The K.B.B. is $10,250 . The book value has risen some since the spike in gas .

The Fit has a better interior than the Yaris (IMO). Less "Cheap" looking (once again IMO), and has a Tach. You'll never get KBB for any trade in. But you are right, based on the current gas prices, the wholesale auction price should be going up, because it's based on what they can get the car for now.
My short list of cars had only the Yaris and the Fit. In the end, I figure that as long as I'm cheaping out, I'd may as well go all the way. The outright vehicle price and MPG's won out, since 95% of the time, I'm driving alone on the freeway. As far as ABS, side airbags, and stability control are concerned... heck I ride a motorcycle too, so none of that has any weight with me, if I had to pay extra. |

Looks like we're pullin' the trigger . Same color and same model , but at a different dealer . Got a $1,000 more for the trade than previous dealer that never bothered to call back with a counter offer . The car has 14 miles on it . Do get a lot for the money with a base model FIT at $16,650 . Telescopic / tilt steering wheel , cruise ( on steering wheel ) , better seating arrangements for rear ( room ) , storage under rear passenger seat , 5 speed auto , On /Off button for T.C. ( not on YARIS L.B. ) , tachometer , fuel gauge ( no bars ) , active head restraints , instant gas mileage , daytime running lights , and a little lower insurance . 0.9% for 5 year loan too . Help towards the principal .

Headlight bulbs also easier to replace in a FIT than the YARIS L.B.. More room for the hands to install . Plan to get some Silverstars for it .

Congrats. I have a 2010 Fit Sport 5MT. Love the car. Getting 41-42 mpg mostly hwy. Maintenance is easy and the increased safety over an older Yaris were my main reasons for buying it. Also it's nice to sleep in the back on the flat seats.
Enjoy it and welcome to FitFreak.net... thought there are way too many ricers there and that forum is just not as nice as this one. Last edited by john21031; 05-07-2011 at 02:07 AM. |

More pics . The car is averaging around 35 m.p.g. with the 5 speed auto . The weather has been mostly wet , cold , and very windy ( gusts of 30 ) . Tires set at 34.5 . There's 452 miles on it . Got it with 14 mis .

Congrats.
![]() No doubt the Fit is an excellent car. The styling is a bit polarizing but I like it for the most part. Any plans for mods Hershey? I'd just consider larger wheels and maybe a Fit Sport style spoiler. What's your city and highway percentage breakdown to average 35 MPG? |

Thanks . No mods , we're a couple of poops . Only mod so far is the ECO-METER . May see about a spoiler and a bumper protector sometime in the future . As for mileage , 15% city / 85 other with speeds high as 73 . There's a lot of hills in our area . We're in a valley so it's mostly a upward battle to keep better gas mileage . Car now has 520 miles . Still breaking in .

Hello. Been lurking in this forum for over a month and have spent HOURS reseraching. Some great people here. First off let me start by saying I purchased a 3 dr LB w/ Power Package in Polar White a few weeks back. And of course it is a manual :)
Let me explain my purchase. I have wanted a Yaris for several yrs now, however, until recently you had to pay an arm and a 2 legs for the safety items I wanted, minus stability control. So I settled for the 1st generation 2008 Honda Fit Sport. The looks were not great but it was a good lil car. So then the 2nd generation Fit came out in 2009 and I purchased a top of the line model. Unfortunately I was also forced to purchase the $1,800 navi to get VSC :( The car was just under 20k loaded with every feature. I still wanted the Yaris but it did not have 6 air bags, VSC so I went with the Fit, aesthetics aside. I drove this Fit for 2 yrs w/ several minor probs all fixed under warranty. Probs included squeaky pedal(minor) to more major issues such as the drivers window CONSTANTLY, slowly edging down, requiring me to pull it up and dificulty (grinding actually) while putting it in 5th gear. I've driven a manual my entire life(since 14, and 35 now) so I know it wasn't me. The dealership was fantastic with the pedal squeak but could never fix the other 2 probs. I also forgot to mention the VERY inaccurate computer mpg guage!! I spoke to a 19 yr Honda mechanic and he also explained he was not AT ALL happy with the build quality of the 2nd generation Honda, especially for it's price and for being a Honda. SO, unhappy with the Fit I moved into a 2011 LOADED Honda Element. Problems from day two on the Element. Problems with difficulty starting(garaged all winter) to buttons on cruise control not working. So I went to visit my sister near KC Missouri and stopped at Toyota dealer after reviewing their new inventory of Yaris's fitting my criteria. I was sooooooooo happy that Toyota finally added ABS,6 air bags, and VSC STANDARD!!! Traded in the Element, lost $2,500, or my ass, however you want to look at it. BUT I finally got what I wanted and to be honest their is NO comparison between a Honda and a Toyota in build. EVERYTHING on the Yaris is tighter and more solid than the 2nd generation Fit I had. The door shuts more soundly. The ONLY thing "better" on the Fit was the pretty dash and the cushier materials and the "magic seats." The ride of the Yaris is just as good, the seats feel great(I'm only 5'7" but I've traveled in them in 14 hr increments) and EVERYTHING feels more solid. Honda might have spent the extra money($4,700 more in my case) on a fancier interior but I would take the Yaris over the Fit any damn day of the week. AND I'VE OWNED TWO!! I feel like a pig in shit and have a great Yaris that does everything I want it to. I considered waiting for the Scion IQ(Toyota IQ) coming late summer, but it is smaller and Idon't need to pay 4k more like I did for the Fit for a fancier interior. So if any of you out there in this forum feel like you should have bought a new Fit, I'm here to tell you you made the right decision. I know I won't be stranded on the side of the road with the Yaris and I couldn't have made a better decision. |

Nicely done, Hershey. Good looking car.
![]() I'm starting to soften a little towards Honda. Haven't been a big fan of them over the last several years, but I'm not ruling out that I might get another one in the future...owned two Preludes, ages ago. Hated the CRZ when they first came out, but I got a chance recently to inspect one up close. Sweet! ![]()

Thanks again . We'll keep updates of gas mileage and any issues that may pop up . We were looking at the CRZ while waiting to get paper work done . It does grow on you .
