change tranny fluid
After draining off @3 quarts of tranny fluid, and its time to add new fluid, should the engine be running? And should the tranny be in park or neutral? I plan to rejuvenate the tranny fluid without going for a complete flush ($250.00) Please no lectures on fluid changing--the questions are: engine off or on, transmission in park or neutral or gear? Thanks for the input Yaris people.......

Add the fluid to the low mark before starting the engine. You would not want to spin the tranny 3 quarts low. Once it is to the low mark, start the engine, put the tranny in neutral, and let it run for a few minutes. Then, check and add.
