11 posts so far with 4 of them performing the social faux pas of self-bumping this thread.

You're not off to a great start there, Frank.

if the yaris came in only sedan, i would never have given one look at trading my corolla for one. the hatch is unique and its been too long since we had some choices in the small hatchback market.

The sedan is just another... sedan.

Four doors = family load. Grocery getter. Stodgy.

The liftback is funky and versatile.

Too bad Toyota doesn't make a two-door Matrix. I'd probably be ALL OVER that.

i would have probably taken the 5 door if it came to Puerto Rico, but the sedan won me over the hatch

Honestly, what most people fail to realize is that without the Sedan the Liftback probably would not have been brought to America. The Sedan seems way more popular due to the fact most people are buying Sedans more then Liftbacks. I have driven both and love both but I am going to be getting married and have kids in the next few years.

So the Sedan won out.

I'm just the opposite.

I am not going to be getting married and having kinds in the next few years unless I make a boo boo

So the Liftback won out

Eijikikimaru,

That's my point lol. Different strokes for different folks. different yaris for all of us.

I still dream of a lowered black LB with 16"s and some performance mods though.

The sedan, while much less awkward looking than the old Echo, doesn't offer any visual appeal beyond the aging design of the current Corolla. Even in S trim, it's a little dull. I'm honeslty not sure why Toyota didn't just tart up the amenities on it a bit and sell it as a new Corolla here. They would seem aimed at such similar tastes, and their price points are already pretty close to each other...

in this forum, expect users to say LB. shit, i say LB. but in the streets, i see 3 sedans to every LB. thats cool, makes the Lbs more rare... in a few years, we can call them "limited editions"...

in a sense, it kinda IS the new corolla. before, peoples first new cars were civics and corollas. but the with the re-designs (corolla's is coming soon), those two models have changed their target audience. they've gotten better, but pricier. nowadays, peoples first new cars will be fits and yarii, the NEO-civic and NEO-corolla...

--B

ps: its crazy but we see trend this even in the aftermarket business. the civic had a ton of stuff, while the corolla had jack. same trend with the fit (plenty) and yaris (few)...

personally, i like the looks of the sedan better. if they had brought the old Vitz design over, then i would have picked that. for me, the LB will need some extras to make it look good to me (not bashing, just not my taste).

i got the sedan for carpooling needs. i would have got the LB if that was not the case, however.

all-in-all i'm not going to bash on the LB just because i have a sedan. seems immature to me.
