Vitz 2sz-fe air intake?

Anyone can give some tips if a custom air intake can be done for a vitz 1.3 2s-fe 2006 ? if yes any problems with maf sensor? K&N and other brands never produced something, so I was thinking of doing a custom one. So far i have a cone filter attached to the plastic box but i wish to make a stainless steel pipe attached to the throttle body so I can improve performance and sound. opinions appriciated. Thanks!

Use aluminum, not stainless steel for the pipe.

You should have no issues custom fabricating just as long as you keep the inside diameter of the pipe the same as OEM. Use of a different diameter piping almost always with throw a code.

Is this what your engine looks like?

or this?

I would not be surprised if one could not use honda civic intakes cos they run of the back and top ..its the sensor that u hqve to worry about its placement.... pvc pipes from a hardware store work good too most are heat resistant and dont hold heat like aluminum so more cooler air gets in.

honestly, i rather just throw in a drop-in filter and move on, reason is that the original piping is a cold air intake by itself, jusdging from the pic, correct me if i am wrong, unlike the 2007 vitz, which is just a loop, not connected to the cold air outside...

what I have right now is a cone filter attached. I removed the pipe and attached the filter to the box I removed also the stock one from the box. its ok but it is not attaced direct to throttle body, so I can gain more power I think.
