Thumbs up Definitely Going To Buy A Yaris Liftback!!!

Hello All!

I've been cruising this board for a while now and have been out doing test drives on gas sipping cars lately... since the price of gas is rising faster than a Grandpa on Viagra!

Right now I am the the proud owner of a 2005 Scion xB that is quickly approaching 55,000 miles.... without one single problem! I live in Sacramento California and tend to rack up a lot of miles driving from here to San Francisco and Los Angeles. When my car hits 75,000 the warranty will be up, so I will end up trading it in within the next 6-12 months. I originally was going to buy a Honda Fit... after a test drive I felt so let down... 0 to 60mph in a half an hour! I was expecting it to be quicker.

I also took the new Hyundai Accent SE Hatchback for a spin.... not a bad little beast, but I am kinda leery about the quality of it. I've read on other messageboards where the engine light keeps coming on in a bunch of owners cars and Hyundai is ending up replacing the heads on the engines.... yikes! No thanks!

So that left the Yaris Liftback as my final test drive. (Sorry Chevy Aveo fans... I will not be caught dead in a re-badged Daewoo!) I was most impressed by the Yaris. It has the same engine and powertrain as my xB, so driving it feels oh so familiar. Plus the Yaris is lighter and feels a little more peppy.... plus gas mileage will be a little better. Yaris wins hands down! Or a!

I better get going now... I need to put 20,000 miles on the xB right quick to get my Yaris!
Can't let my Scion warranty go to waste!

Later!

Congratulations on the new soon to be Yaris,

May I ask why your trading in the xB though? Is it just because of gas? Because if you trade it in your going to get alot less then the car is worth. If you really want a new Yaris why not sell the xB private party?

Just want something a little different looking. I guess the novelty of the "Box" has worn off. It is nice and all... but I feel like it is time to move on to something else. The Box is financed at 36 months... the final payment is in July. I may sell it private party... trade it, or just hang on to it and make it the Yaris' older brother... we'll see.

I love the xB. My brother has one and that thing is cavernous! The seating is incredibly roomy! He has not had one single problem with his eiter and I think he's around 30K miles. I like my Yaris a little better though. It definatley gets better MPG and looks cute and not boxy. I think quality should be the same with the two.

Good choice! You will like the car's fuel economy and presumably it's resale value too, if oil prices keep on going up.

Yea the liftbacks are great. The sedans are 2. For me, the liftbacks insurance was cheaper for me, and I don't know why. The sedans should be cheaper cause of foor doors.
Yea the Xb isn't a bad machine either. Im pretty sure the new xb with the 02-06 camry/scion tc
engine's insurance is going to be a pain in the a$$...

I DO NOT like the next gen xB. The whole purpose of the car when it originally came out was to be a small city car with personality and excellent gas mileage. The next generation xB here in the U.S. will be bigger, drink more gas and have boring styling.

I would have rather bought the next gen JDM instead.... IT'S MUCH BETTER:

I couldn't agree more. I love the new bB and do not like the "xB2."

Wow, that is much cooler looking. Those wheels are a little over the top, but that's an easy enough fix. The rest of the styling is very nice. It's a shame that the new US xB is taking a turn for the boring; the styling of the first one (polarizing though it was) was my favorite thing about it.
