09 Cluster swap

If I were able to get my hands on a digital cluster from a euro model would it still use the same wire connectors and be pretty much plug and play or would I need to switch out connectors?

CTScott and I in search of those answers. I sent him a cluster from Germany to tinker with and see what functions work. Im sure he'll document everything in a thread.

The left hand drive European ones use the same connectors in the same positions (where the Japanese and Australian RHD ones have the connectors on the opposite sides). There are a few wires that have to be swapped around as the pinouts are a bit different.

I actually ran a European digital one in one of my cars for a bit, but didn't like it, so I went back to analog. It was a couple years ago, so I don't recall exactly what I did to connect it, so I will refresh my memory with Ezhacker1's.

awesome ty guys :D I have also considered the s type tach/speedo cluster but finding one of those will be tricky by itself. The digital I think would be be a lil more "showy" which is what Im looking for as far as interior. Who knows maybe Ill end up with one of each and I can see what I like best lol

oh and if anyone has one of these digital clusters for sale please lmk :)

I have the stock, non tach. But have been running the S cluster for years, now I'll have the digital soon, so I'll find what I like best. In pics, I don't really like how there's so much empty space on top of the rpm/speed gauge but it still looks cool for my Tron theme.

I currently still have my stock non tach cluster in it and even on a AT I want to have a tach. If I can switch out my cluster and get a tach then I it saves me from having to mount and install a aftermarket tach, plus find a location for it that wont drive me insane.

seeing as the digital and type s cluster both have a tach I deff want to get either of them. I am probably leaning more towards the digital simply bc I have never owned a car with a digital dash lol. this is really the first "newer" car I have owned. Everything else has been 1994 or previous, my other ride is a 1984 dodge 1/2 ton w 150 4x4 on 33s. I have done some motor work to it since I got i and tuned i up better, but havent stared a resto on it yet. Tbh it might end up being sold to a buddy here soon to help fund some parts for he yaris ha ha. I plan to use some other "emergency funds" I have had floating around for the last fey years to help with it to.
Motor, interior, and exterior in the long run Im looking close to 9000-10000 usd going into this yaris. Why..... simply bc why the hell not lol.
I have wanted to do a nice lil sleeper build for some time now and couldnt find what I wanted to use and this yaris kinda fell into my lap in a way and I couldnt pass up the deal I got on it. Not to mention who would expect a yaris to be a lethal sleeper ha ha, it will deff surprise the shit out of most of my buddies here, some of which have no idea yet I got the car or what I plan to do with it. I just want to show up in it one day and run up on em and leave em behind.

the rpm seems hard to read on the digital one. Iv had a small numerical digital tach installed from the start, took it off of my 98 tacoma manual that didnt have a tach.

meh my eye sight isnt the best anyways so Im used to shit being a lil hard to see or most lights being a lil blurry at times.
I deff am not feeling the standard cluster with the single speedo. To me it looks cheap and like something thrown in at the last second to just get it done with.
I figured the digi would be easier to get my hands on vs a type s cluster so Ill go with it for now...if I can find somewhere to buy one lol

ebay. just select worldwide shipping in the filter results. This way you get the European countries without having to go to each respective countries eBay site. Easiest way to make sure you get the correct one, is "clock" is on the right, MPH is on the left.
