Kayak cartopping on a 2 door/3 door hatchback

Hi,

I've been wanting to get a fishing kayak for a while now but am concerned about transporting it. I have a 2 door hatchback Yaris and I'm not sure how much weight the roof can handle. Some of the larger fishing kayaks can be in the 100-115 lb. range, and I'm trying to get one secondhand so I don't know exactly which model it might be.

My Yaris does have a trailer hitch installed but I've never used it. I could possibly get one of those tailgate extenders that mounts to the hitch and can be configured to be level with the roof, or just get an actual trailer.

Has anyone cartopped a heavy fishing kayak on a 2 door Yaris? I'm trying to get this figured out so I can be ready when a good secondhand one pops up.
