DIY high flow/SRI?

In reference to this post
http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4392

is this feasible?
I am cheap/poor/whatever...

would a high flow filter
remove silencer tube and a few well placed holes make a difference?

anyone tried it have a comment?

I've never had the holes in my airbox, but just with a Simota high-flow filter I did notice a small difference in pep and in MPG's.

ya it works. i felt some low end gain on the butt dyno, plus it sounds awesome! you wont get any CELs and if you drive it nice and easy you should gain some mpg from better flow. but, if your like me adn you love the sound then i think i probably lost mpg from stomping on it everywhere! lol
