It's hard to show it but here's my horns.. there's not a lot of clearance (maybe a finger thick) between the bellow part of the horn and the grill.
Interesting. Judging by the grill, both you and Violin have liftbacks, correct? I took a closer look at the area around my factory horn and it looks like there's at least 6 inches between the grill and radiator where the factory horn is mounted. I think there should be plenty of room for the larger air horns I want. I'll order them today. Thanks again guys!

Well, I moved my airhorns to the front, just behind the grill. Much better sound, but I was unhappy with the direct drive compressor that came with it so I ordered their high output direct drive compressor which is double that of the stock model. WHOAAA!!!! Huge difference! It definitely gets attention now!

A funny sidenote! My wife and I went camping this past weekend. Red Thunder's first camping trip! We had to make a drive into town to get more firewood and a motorhome in front of us pulled off onto a turnout. As we went by, I gave him two short toots of the OLD air horns to say thank you. As we were driving away, we heard this HUGE air horn sound from the motorhome! We were both cracking up! It was big rig loud, like with a compressor and a tank! Similar to what's heard on www.hornblasters.com. I guess he showed us! LOL!

I'm not too great at searching the web, but couldn't findI'm assuming these horns aren't available locally (DC Metro area), or are they?

Does anyone else use these Toyota horns? Does the kit come with wiring and connectors to splice the 2 horns?

I just got the horns that SmellyTofu posted I think (his pics look the same as mine). It's called a "Premium Horn" (Genuine Toyota Part Number 08522-42010). I ordered mine through JDMPit on E-bay (overseas) I'm in the USA by the way.

It DOES NOT come with wiring and connectors to splice the 2 horns. It only comes with the two horns (one 400Hz horn, and one 500Hz horn), and a set of instructions that are only in Japanese, and two other Asian languages that I don't have a clue what they are. So the instructions are worthless if you are not fluent in Asian languages. The pictures help a little, but without being able to read the actual instructions in English I find them worthless.

If anyone has these horns and installed them I would also love to hear how you did it. Would like to do it myself, but I know the front bumper has to come off and it's just too cold right now for me to be workin' on my car outside since I don't have a garage. I might just break down and take them to my local performance shop to get them installed.

stock horn:

connector:

directions:

There is already a hole here (right side horn), I just had to trim the plastic to get to it:

(I took the right headlight off to get at an existing ground to chasis bolt and ran the ground wire with the existing harness.)

finished:

Sounds great! Much louder than the stock *meep* and a nice two tone note.

PIAA also makes a 400 and 500 Hz set. I chose the higher pair because I think the lower note would confuse other drivers. They'd be looking for a bigger car or truck.

Much more noticeable sound.

I've done this with every car I've had since an 18 wheeler changed lanes into my Miata at 75 mph and didn't hear my little horn until he nearly ran me over.

Thanks guys! Awesome pics!
It sounds like I'll have to relocate from the factory location if I want to go with the 12" dual horns. I think it'll be worth it though.

PEP BOYS sells wolo, just under 30$ for the dual horns, I put them on every car I own, can be a bit of a bi*ch to wire the relay! pm if you need help done it 6 times at least. Beef up the wire and connectors they give you. You wont believe how damn loud they get! Fiat spyder has the same european sounding toot. It has saved me from many a close call with just a quick toot to let them know im there.

Well, I finally received my horns. I've learned that there is yet another difference between the LB and sedanS. You can't get the front of the car off without undoing a bunch of bolts under the car, a couple of which are quite difficult to reach. I decided to rig the horn in the engine bay, but besides it being muffled, the Wolo, dual horns blew the 10amp horn fuse. Any ideas? I'm going to try to get the front end completely off and find somewhere to mount the horns behind the grill area but why are the horns blowing the fuse?

I had to remove a number of bolts to remove my bumper too. I put the front on ramps to make it easier to get at. It took maybe 5 minutes. If you need instructions, download the service manual.

As far as the fuse - do the horns indicate the current draw on them or the packaging? Try contacting wolo?

I've got ramps, I just received the horns late yesterday and got a little over anxious.

I can't find the current draw anywhere, I'll contact Wolo.

I know I've seen it before but where is the link to the manual?

Thanks for the help.
