Where I work we really push the no rear speaker approach to customers. When someone comes in wanting to buy 4 new spaekers I let them hear my car without rears then sell them 2 speakers that cost what ther were willing to spend on all 4.

Lookin good man!
Yes the spheres are about 4 to 5 inches in diameter, the second set of spheres that I'm going to build for my car will be smaller and will host the tweeters, these in particular are the ones that will get a benefit of the spheres controlling diffractions in a better way.

Here is a link that talks about diffractions and why I'm building my system around spheres. LINK

It's late, I'm tired...

I did manage to install the PB ASA1100.5x amp, very nice terminals. Even at volume 1, I could tell the difference in sound quality, it's like my speakers sound Bolder!
I couldn't crank it up, every body is sleeping I'll have first impressions later

The Remote gain control for the sub works very good.

So right now this is where I am...

Mids (HL-70) pb amp 75x2 watts

MidBass (Hifonics 6.5" in doors) pioneer amp 100x2 watts [soon to be replace by HAT L6 in kick panels]

Subwoofer (10" Bachuka) pb amp 250x1 watts [soon to be replace by IDQ12]

Next:
Tweeters (HAT L1v2) pb amp 75x2 watts

Future:
get another amp with 75x4 watts for mids and tweeters, take out the Pioneer and move the PB amp to 300x2 watts + 500x1 watts for Midbass and Sub.

I would love to justify a LRx ($850 at Woofers ETC) maybe an used one?

I can tell how good high end stuff makes a difference in your sound system.

I was thinking "Image Dynamics 4 channel" or another "PB amp"

I like the SRx but it's only 60x2 watts, any thoughts?

Impressions?

BREATHTAKING!!!

Do I need more?
it sounds so nice, I can't imaging it sounds so good and the tweeters are not playing in the equation YET!

All the sound got BOLDER the Bachuka sounds so much better, I couldn't believe the difference, I wonder how good it will be with the IDQ12

My cheap (temporary) midbass driviers in the doors handling 100x2 watts sound better than ever...

and the Mids, can't complain I love the way they sound I change the Frequency to 260Hz - 10kHz for now until I install the tweeters.

NEXT:

Gain Match!

The difference between a Pachuko Tube and an IDQ12 would probably be like a Yaris vs a Corvette ZR1.

That IDQ12 with enough power and a good box will POUND.

Probably be more bass than you need. Some people like that.

Thanks AM, that's going to be awesome!

Today I was listening to some Spanish salsa songs (loud!), I got out of the car and shut the door, sounded like some one listening to loud music, but when I got back inside the car, I could feel the bass in my chest punching hard and my hair tickles and moves.

This is great!

I better go down now that every body is sleeping and figure out how to build the small spheres for the tweeters!

Cheers!

Sounds scary, like going to the Doctor

any literature about it?

thanks

I've been playing with the tweeters aiming and location, the L1v2 sound really good HPF it's at 5kHz and up.

But I can't stand "on Axis" aiming, is that some thing I fix with the EQ or is typical of this particular tweeter?

I'm going to install them on the "Sail Panels" to wide my stage as much as possible.

SQcomp, I know you are going to say... "Off Axis"!

Thank you,
D.

I kid because that is where my Hertz ML28 tweeters are. Well my liftback doesn't have sail panels instead it has little windows where the sedan's sail panels are. Mine are mounted to the door panel in angled cups exactly where your sail panels are. Mine work extremely well off axis.

By putting the tweeters in spheres I can aim them with the same angle of the Mids, without any problem and "on axis" it's not as bad as before, very interesting.

Diffractions after all do make a difference!
