Reuse header gasket?

Anybody had success reusing their stock exhaust manifold gasket for a header install?

Got a sexy DC header waiting to go on...

The DC Sports one doesn't provide a gasket? boo.

Weapon R doesn't either.

Not really recommended is it? Not really worth the hassle of dismattling
everything to replace a leaky header gasket which should have been replaced in the first place, IMHO.

I bought the header used, don't know if it came with one or not. Actually, there may even be one in the box, I didn't dig through all the packing.

No, it's not recommended to reuse a header gasket, that's why I'm asking if anyone has done so with success. I've done it on my Spitfire without issue. I think it just depends on the quality and type of gasket.

I changed out the gasket when I installed my WR header Monday. I figure $20 is cheap insurance against having to go in and replace a gasket later on down the road.

Hey Loren, just saw this thread now....No, the DC header didnt come w/a exhaust manifold gasket, it was meant to reuse the stock one. I had no problems at all in doing that. Hope this helps....

I've done it on my Jeep with no problems, but I'd still suggest a new one

Absolutely nothing wrong with reusing the stock one. 40K miles on mine with absolutely no issues. They are $20 a pop so you decide.

Thanks guys. I'm going to take my chances with reusing the old gasket. Being the cheap-ass that I am, and wanting to get the thing installed this weekend to be ready for an autocross next weekend, it just seems like the right thing to do right now. If it leaks, I'll get a new one and replace it. No biggie.
