Would this work?
This is my dad's suggestion for getting my Yaris to the dealer to replace the park neutral gear selector position switch. Since it's not mechanically connected to the transmission all I have to do is unplug the old one but leave it in place. Then just plug in a new one and leave it lose but secured to an engine part so it doesn't flop around. Then put the new sensor in the park position with a wrench, have a friend start the engine and keep the brake on. Then put the sensor in drive position and drive the car to the dealer. If the sensor is the problem he said it should shift normally since it shifts electronically. Is that a crazy idea?
