Driver Side Seat Track Assembly recall
Hi today my yaris (o8 sedan) had to have the bolts on lower susp arm replaced, one was rusted right off.
BUT they voluntarily (I hadnt asked for it) put a new track on, I think only drivers seat, it works really hard now tho'. As in you have to bend down and get a hold with both hands on each side front of seat bar to move it. Im wondering if it should be that tight to move it? Im grateful they took the opportunity to do it for me just wonder if it should work that hard now? I didnt have time to ask as they were closing. It does work tho'. Now for the spiral cable, steering wheel thing, hope that light never goes on. Makes me nervous when they have to rip things apart. I must say tho' my local dealer where it was purchased is exceptional. |

I got both recall notices. Both indicated there was no fix ready yet.
Maybe yours got one of the first seat track fixes. |

Ya.. I've also got both notices. No fixes yet. They recommend not moving the seats.

Went to the dealership for an oil change today. They asked me when I would like to schedule my seat rail locking spring fix thing.
Perhaps I wasn't paying enough attention to this, for some reason I thought it was limited to the sedans and 3 doors. Nope 5 dr. LB's too, so next Tuesday morning....................but they are going to call me first to make sure all the parts have arrived. I'll let you know if I have the same result as kaz777. I asked about the spiral cable replacement, they're still working on it. *When I got home I pulled out the notice, yep 5's too I guess. |

I swear my seat feels like it sits different, a little to the left and like the back and seat base aren't as tight at back, cant be tho' I mean they didn't pull apart the back and base of seat did they? Crooked could be I guess if tracks are off.
So its harder to adjust and feels weird, oh well. I always hate when recalls start causing them to screw with the orig stuff. Guess I will get used to it if its safer, whatever ugh. I loved my seats they're the heavy duty solid sort. |

*Follow up-
Long story short, they were supposed to call me to let me know if the parts for the fix had arrived. They didn't. I called at 1715hrs, no one could give me an answer so I cancelled, rather than get up there tomorrow AM to find out they don't have the goods to fix it, but please have some of our horrible coffee. Already had one message from a manager expect a few messages tomorrow. The poor parts guy, asked me if I was sure it was a 4 door hatch. So I told him to hold on while I counted just be sure. 1,2,3, hang on..................... yup 4, plus the hatch. I thought it had 4 doors when I bought 4 years ago. I am in no rush on this, I am the only one who drives this car, my seat is all the way back and locked, so I'll wait until they get their act together on this. |

Just an update the seat recall has worked out, the seat was tight to move now its finally getting easier to adjust :) Just takes time for the new part to break in I suppose.

Mine got done the other week, no problems with adjusting the seat, I suspect they put some graphite lube on the tracks. Got the mod plate on the car also to show it had been done.

Driver Side Seat Track Assembly recall
My CS said 2 to 2 1/2 hours for both recalls to be done. She asked if I wanted the services of the valet or wait. Since the lounges in these new dealerships are so comfortable I told her I'd wait. Like I mentioned in another thread, 35 minutes later it was done. When I commented about that being the fastest 2 hours I'd ever experienced, she said she tells clients the absolute worst case timeframe. I also suspect that when possible, priority is given to clients opting to wait it out in the lounge. It really is a simple recall. Disconnect the battery, replace the seat rail while waiting for residual charge in the SRS to drain. Then replace spiral cable and reconnect the battery. Done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wee, agree the waiting area has got Cable, WiFi, etc. Plus where I got there is a lot of stuff a couple of hundred yards away, Mall, shopping, I'll drop it, go get bfast, hit lowes etc.
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Plus I'm going in right when they open. |
