Running rough after stereo install
I recently installed an after market (Chinese 7010b) stereo in my girlfriends 09 yaris which now seems to be idling a little rough and she says the steering is randomly "really tight"/ hard to turn the wheel. I wired the stereo according to the diagram, but there was a third connector plugged into the back of the OEM stereo that I can't find reference to anywhere (connector had 5 wires of about 20 possible openings for wires) that i just left disconnected. Car is manual transmission if that matters.
Is there anything related to the stereo that would cause these issues? Or does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas? TIA |

Did you have the battery disconnected while doing the install?

Yes the battery was disconnected. The instructions said to disconnect the negative terminal, but I completely disconnected it.

In that case, the ECU must go through a relearning process to restore fuel and engine management settings. This requires nothing more than driving the vehicle. Eventually it will settle down to normal operation.

Wondering if grounding is an issue. When it is, the steering issue you described can be present...

When I started looking into it I had a lot of corrosion on the battery terminals. I cleaned them thoroughly and resolved both issues immediately.

I have an 07 Sedan, manual transmission, same idle issue happens to me when I disconnect my battery, usually fixes up after a few hours, just drive cautiously, the car could turn off on you till the computer resets itself
