Tow hook cover mod
Does anyone know where the thread is where someone modified their tow hook cover by cutting a hole in it? I remember seing it but can't find it. It made having the tow hook installed look so much nicer than just having the cover off with the tow hook installed. Thanks

I don't recall ever seeing a thread on it. Given the '09/10/11s went to a rectangular cutout, I imagine it would look a little more pleasing with a circular hole.

That would be Klink10. However, he apparently doesn't have a pic of it just yet. Maybe this will prompt him to take one or two? |

What would be the point of driving around with a tow hook installed?
Is this just in case you get drunk and run you car off the road? Personally, I fail to understand the appeal of the "look". |

^^^^^ This. When I had my Swift (car before my Yaris, that 'lived' its whole life with me as a California plated car), I got tired of that type of driver and I bought (from an auto parts store) a plate frame (for the front) that was studded with metal spikes that looked like the tips of unused Crayons, just 5 to 10 times the size. It was really effective. The frame is in California right now, in storage. Eventually, I'll try it out on my Yaris and see what effect it has.....and I may get a tow hook for the rear just for this reason, and especially when I get my next car. I just noticed earlier today that someone tapped my rear bumper causing the cover to slightly crease in two places.

Does anyone know if one exists for the Yaris?
I live in a neighborhood where parking is so bad that everyone is constantly bumping in and out of spots. Now my front grill is cracked and rear bumper is a mess and I would LOVE to install a bull bar in the front before I pay to fix the body up. |

One of the many reasons I love my area.....I rarely have to parallel park, thus rarely have to subject my car to front and rear hits at the same time while parked. I also try to find spaces that abut a cart return, rather than another car. The bar on the Camry in that pic is awe inspiring!

Yes I did it and that thread shows another car that did it the same way I did but with the newer style. I can't remember if I ever posted any pics and the reason was cause I liked the look. It's still there also. My favorite answer for people who ask "What is it?"....nipple ring. The car of course has been paid for and just turned 20K miles.

Wow, this thread is all over the place, fun to read! That bar in the pic shown above is attached in three places, underneath x2 and at the tow hook. That's the way it looks to me at least. That leaves the driver side extremely weak -- even a small bump will bend or damage those bars.
Love the Mad Max theme though. Someone needs to go all the way with that.
