blown axle seal !
My white stalion only has 15k on it and it has a blown seal. I am worried that this is not the only issue with the car even though the dealer is going to fix the seal? Should I be worried? I am in Utah where the winters are hard and I have a long commute, so insights are welcome!

just take it to the dealer they should fix it if its under warranty. or go to a car store and buy a new clamp and grease. be sure to grease the inside of the boot if you do it yourself.

how did the seal blow? that doesn't make much sense, they aren't under pressure, maybe it was faulty from the very beginning I don't know... maybe a little more info would help, how did it happen? what were you doing when you noticed it?

I notice a leak while I was changing the oil, there is also a crank seal leak that I noticed, scary stuff. I took the car today to the dealer and they said they will have everything fixed by tomorrow. I will let you guys know more details of what they found tomorrow. Thanks

That or your pcv valve is clogged. I would reccomend removing it and seeing if it rattles and cleaning it with some carb cleaner. Or just simply replacing it they are cheap. I always replace my every 2 years. Along with my radiator cap. Very cheap and easy to fail items. That could save you hundreds if not thousands down the road.

i dont see why you'd have to pay for anything while youre still in bumper-bumper warranty...
i had lots of stuff go sideways in my old matrix, but it was all covered...

Would you need to prove you did proper oil changes, etc. in this case to avoid a hard time from the dealer?

you did say axle seal, right? wouldnt that have nothing to do with whether or not you put oil in your engine?

3.7 liters (think that is how much the manual says), I am extremely careful when I change the oil (always mobile one), at least I hope I am... Do you think that this could be the only problem, or is there an underlining issue that needs to be addressed?
Thanks for your comments though! |

Ok, so the dealership guy just called and mention that it is only one issue. It is where the axle is connected to the transmission, which it has been leaking everywhere. It will be fix by tomorrow!
Keep you guys updated... |

7,000 miles later I still have no problems. I was worried that the alignment may be off, but I've got no abnormal tread wear. If you've hit a similarly hard bump recently then I'd check the alignment, but wouldn't worry unless the mechanics says something is haywire when you have your oil changed, or you start hearing noises. |

I have an 08 LB with 20,000 miles. Just got an oil change and while it was up on the lift the mechanic pointed out I have an axle seal leak aswell. I am taking it in to the dealer tomorrow. Think it will be covered under warranty?

Yes, so you guys found these problems, others are finding other problems like me and lots of others with the 07 yaris.
Now I see never to make the mistake again of buying a first year model, or for that matter, this inexpensive of a car period :/ Other then that, its a great car. |
