variable intermittent wipers
so i was at the big new england toyota meet on the weekend, and i convinced a friend w/ an 09 xrs to let me try is windshield wiper control arm on my yaris
result: it IS plug and play. however - - the front intermittent wipers work fine, but the rear intermittent doesnt....still just on/off so for those with a hatch wanting variable intermittent controls for their front wipers can use the wiper control arm off of an 09+ vibe/matrix. (id imagine the controls of a 10th gen corolla would work fine on a sedan)

So, it sounds like Matrix controls for a LB with a rear wiper and Camry controls for a sedan or LB with no rear wiper? Also, is it just 09 Matrix controls for the LB or will prior years work as well?

03-08 matrix/vibe controls WILL NOT work...the plug is different.
i would think that if you didnt have a rear wiper, you could get a control arm off of a camry or 10th gen rolla at itd work fine...

I've got the rear wiper. I would really like variable intermittent, so I'll have to keep my eyes open for an ebay or junk yard 09 matirx switch (I can't justify the cost of one from a dealer).

Here is what I could find from google cache on Violin's wiper switch install.
Not sure how long it will last if someone wants to rebuild it. http://74.125.95.104/search?q=cache:...lnk&cd=1&gl=us I think the part number of the correct switch is 84652-48180 |

Has anyone contacted a technician to find out what matrix wiring we need to add to the Yaris to get the rear intermittent to work? Has anyone just figured it out. Please post when you have the info as this would be a cool addition to our rear wiper.

Did this mod on my sedan. Got an 09 Corolla Wiper switch.
There are 2 screws behind the steering wheel. Just turn the wheel until you can get to them with a screwdriver. Then there is one on the bottom of the steering column housing. After that it's just a straight swap. just disconnect the switch first before removing it from the steering column. |

This reminds me that I had (now almost 2 yrs ago) really wanted to get *variable* intermittent action for my front wipers!
Before the hack, I seem to recall someone saying the RAV4 wiper stocks work too? At least I know that an 09 Matrix wiper stock will work for sure on my 07 Yaris Hatch.
