Xbox "New Experience" ie Avatars

Came out today as an update 11/19/2008 about a 15-20 minute download.

Yes, they made a Wii interface pseudo-clone aka Avatars. Not as nifty as how Microsoft originally stole the Macintosh interface from apple, but I like some of the features.

The two main ones I see is Netflix downloads and the ability to install full games into the Hardrive.

They were smart...gonna have a run on the 60 and 120 gb Hardrives soon just from those two new features.

Now, my question is.... are they gonna put out even larger drives? I may buy anything larger than 120 (their largest capacty).

Stats: I tried both COD4 and Gears2...seems to take a total of 6.7 gbs per game. I had to delete all my vids and demos/betas to get enough for 1 game. (I have the 20gb hardrive)

no word from microsoft onlarger hard drives. i've seen on xbox360 modding websites that u replace your standard hard drive with any standar 2.5 inch SATA laptop hard drive. requires some knowledge of how to work on a pc, i'm probably going to do this to my xbox.

or you could always connect a usb hard drive to the xbox and use that. i know you wont be able to save any material purchased from xbox live onto the usb hard drive, that stuff has to be on the same HDD that has the xbox360 operating system. which makes me wonder if u cant save whole gaves to an external usb hard drive.

Its just a new Graphical User Interface. aka they just made it look different and added the personalization of an avatar. The old interface was kind of plain jane and crappy. I will complain that some of the stuff is harder to find though. Other then that it looks ok.

There's one more thing I wonder.... Will there be an increase of the "Ring of death" since now xboxes will be on longer to download movies and all the new multlimedia capabilities.

It's possible, but with the new revision of the hardware with the Falcon chipset, many problems with the rrod have been eliminated. Well, that is, if you actually have one of the newer xboxes (but if you get a rrod and your xbox is still under warranty I've read that they end up just sending you a new xbox with the new hardware in it). Also, with the ability to run games off the HD, heat (and noise) should be further reduced in the system since the dvd drive won't be spinning.

anyways, it's a total Wii rip off but whatever.

Also took me about 2 minutes. I have one of the newer boxes so I dont see over heating as an issue as long as you keep it off the floor and laying flat and keep it pulled back off the wall. I have mine sitting on top of my computer tower so it can breathe and disperse heat more efficient.

add me.. "Kazutosan" if u wanna pwn in cod4

Too fancy for my taste. I agree some things are harder to find which is kinda annoying.

I just played Mortal Combat vs DC.. and I'm gonna say its extremely fun IMO. I wouldn't buy it though.. just rent. Beat the game already, story is pretty nice.

Anyone looking for a good wireless/wired router. Try out the Dlink DGL-4500 Gamerlouge router... has gigabit lan ports which make a huge difference in gaming. =)
