cross brace installed [pics]

Finally got around to putting this in. I figure I sell it, I better know what it does first hand. Had to trim my custom audio box back a little, but otherwise it fit well. Didn't use the bottom bar, I didn't see that it did anything to stiffen the system.

This cross brace makes a BIG difference! Somehow, even in straight line driving the rear end "sits down" better over bumps. Didn't expect that.

A few pics for you. It bolts directly into the upper rear seatbelt hole and into the rear seat bracket on the bottom.

Garm,

Is this brace adjustable? Looking at the threads and the nut, I'd assume so.

yes it is, in both angle and distance. Mostly it's lining up the holes and then cinching the whole thing down nice and tight.

What will a brace like this do differently than mid and rear underbraces on the car?

If someone wanted to, they could replace the panels if they made the hole in them and put them on before locking it in, just a thought for the potential buyer.

My guess is chassis and body flex combined, The underbraces are targeting the frame flex

chassis flex mostly -- I think you'll feel much more of a difference with this than underbracing, which basically overlays a single piece underbody anyway.

This can be installed with the back seats in place, I'm hoping Thomas can find his pre-hack pics and post them up.

I'm updating the store now to reduce the price to $399 with FREE shipping included. I have two left.

looks awesome, serves its purpose, what's not to like?

These can be indeed installed with the rear seats, I have seen plenty of pics, I'll have to dig them up later

I think it'd be heaps better if it was welded into the bodyshell.

True, but it's designed for the DIY guy/gal in mind

Don't know. I bought five and they have been sitting for a while -- I know they're pricey but it's a pretty cool mod!

Heres a couple quick pictures of my install , not fully finished yet. Need to trim the interior pieces to clear the seatbelt mounting hardware and make a flat cover out of thin plywood to cover the spare tire hole. Fits good but needed to cut a piece of metal out of the spare tire area to clear the bottom bar . I had an old megan c-pillar bar I added to the top of the "X" for more "mad tight jdm looks" lol . This was able to be installed with the rear seat in place BUT It will not sit all the way back meaning , it won't click into place and might collapse on the back seat passenger in a crash , be warned . It really stiffend the whole car up , its feels a lot harsher on bumps and slides the back out pretty good under tight, sharp, fast turns , I never thought it would make such a differnce. I'll do a full write up with better pictures when i'm done with the install.
