More than likely you are running out of resources. How many items are loaded in your start up? I used to have that problem years ago with an older computer. I used to open the system tray and close anything I was not using.

Have you looked to see if the Device Manager shows a loaded driver? If not, go to the Dell website, they'll have everything you need to ensure that all drivers are loaded.

Go to control panel, system, device manager. Locate the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and expand. On each channel, double click, then on the advanced settings tab set transfer mode to "DMA if available" for each device under the channel. If that doesn't help, it is probably a bad burner. I wear them out in less than a year on my desktop... |

loaded driver. i think he's referring to the correct driver of your dvd/cd-rom! if you right click onto the properties, you should be able to see a tab named "driver", click that and then click the "driver details" button.
i think, you have to make sure that you are using the right driver for that specific drive(cd-rom/dvd)...sometimes microsoft will just put a generic driver and the hardware will not function properly! |
