Any piano/keyboard players out there?

For many years I have wanted to learn to play the piano. And now that my friend got me a keyboard tutorial with DVD's as an xmas gift, I'm ready to buy my first one.
Any suggestions? Yamaha, Korg, etc?
Thanks!

If you're getting a keyboard, try to get one with weighted keys that spring back like a piano. Its not absolutely necessary when you're starting out, but its near impossible to play fast songs on a plastic keyboard with light keys. Yamaha makes good pianos and good keyboards.

My piano was built in 1895 and is a little out of tune, but I got it for 100 bucks on ebay :D

It depends on what music you wanna play. There are many great electric pianos....with the feel of a real piano. But if you want other sounds you may NOT want that. Go to your local BIG music store and pick there brains....a lot! That's what salesman are for. I like piano but love a lot of the Synth sounds and also the sound of the Hammond B-3 organ. So, figure out what sounds you like and which can do all.
Also do you want to play with a band? If that's a possibility consider something portable enuff to do all that and an amp powerful enuff to be heard or miked thru the P.A.
Let me know how you make out. I used to sell the stuff back in the day and always like to hear how people did.

Hey im new here and Ive been playing piano for 8 years now. I have an 1937 Grand Piano. I'd suggest strongly to buy a piano, not a keyboard, but still Yamaha does great electric pianos. The best is the get an electric piano( it looks like a piano, but its electric) than a keyboard, but w/e its your choice.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm looking at a keyboard to make intros for songs, just mess around and have fun. I think i'd rather have a synth and play different sounds and such. I will look for weighted keys as well, thanks!
I will update when i purchase my keyboard.
