kiwi or scangauge?
Hello everone I just found the kiwi plx one ebay for $85 + $8 very cheap.
Item 400043450156. I want to get one for my car, I have a 87 with no tach. Is this a good replacement for an aftermarket tachomerter?. Is it easier to install? or should I expend the extra money and get a scangauge. I looked around in the forum and it looks like this is the way to go for an after market tach. Any suggestions appreciated. |

Kiwi offers a real nice one for about 300.00, but it's geared mainly to those that want to get maximum mpg...it's designed to train you how to drive for that maximum fuel economy. |

If you just want a cheap, plug and play, tach, the KIWI can fill that need. If it's engine performance that you want, the Scangauge II would be much better.

Looks like this unit has mpg and rpms and other things but will the connector work with 07 hatchback? is this a standard connector? Is the set up for this unit easier than an aftermarket tach?

The setup is much easier than an aftermarket tach, but the refresh rate is slower than a real tach.

I have a ScangaugeII and a tach. Tach is more responsive, scangauge is for the MPG's and all the other info like temps, pressures and such that aren't in the Yaris gauge cluster.

A Scanguage is so useful I suggested to my Toyota dealer that they offer them with each new Yaris and other economy car. They said that they'll "Think about it" which I consider a qualified "no". Having never used a Kiwi I don't know a thing about it. Gene |
