Finaly getting springs

I am getting me new rim's and tires in a week and want to lower the car some. I want to ask if anyone has the Megan Racing springs on a 08 LB and how the car rides. Thanks

This should be transferred to the suspension section.

Also would I be fine for a while with lowering springs and stock shocks or should those be changed at the same time as the springs. if so what set would y'all recommend

The only after market shocks that I know of are the TRD ones. You can get them from sparks toyota he is one of our vendors.

I have teins with stock shocks. It's good to do both but you certainly don't have to.

SO...i hope ur talkin valve springs cuz there's a section designated for suspension...

but...on the other hand, COOL! congrats. be sure to get an alignment, and specify the new alignment specs to your tech...also, you should get new shocks to handle different spring rates, compression, dampening and rebound characteristics of the new springs.

also, sway bars are cheap and very effective. this should be ur next mod if you dont have them already.

Yea another user pointed out this was posted in the wrong place. I had a stupid moment I guess when I started this thread. I already asked someone to move it to the right place. Seems they haven't done it yet. Thanks for the info. I will go with the Megan since they offer the drop that I want. I will post some pic's of the install and rims after I get them on

Megan springs thread here:

I doubt the ride quality varies between the year of the car. You should be fine on stock struts/shocks till you can afford aftermarket ones. A good alternative to TRD shocks and cheaper too are Tokico blues:

Tokico > TRD shocks/struts

Progress > Megan springs

The Tokico's are next up on my list of things for my suspension, as I don't want to run on just the Tanabe springs with the stock shocks/struts for too terribly long.

Too bad they didn't have the Tokico's when I bought my TRD. Shoot, I got Tokico Blue's for my dad's Camry. LOL.

Anyway, get an alignment AFTER the springs have settled.

That raises a question I've had: I work at home and only use my car to run to local errands, so I end up averaging around 15-20 miles a week, most weeks...how long should I wait for them to settle before going in to get an alignment?

That's a toughy. It should also settle with time, but with less usage, it might take a little more. I think with regular usage, the springs should settle within 2 weeks, not completely sure tho. You can always go on a spirited run if your alignment is not off. My alignment didn't seem off after I installed my suspension parts. It drove straight, but I got an alignment done about a year later. LOL.

I think just a few miles of bumpy road will seat the springs just fine. at least that's how I have done it in the past. When i replace stock springs or use lowering springs I drive the car down a bumpy road for a few miles then take it back jack it up re check the torch then take it for an alignment

The Megan's on my GTI didn't settle (that or they settled some more) until about a month or two later

I might hold off on doing the alignment until after our cross country move, I think. We're going to be towing my car and driving the wife's '09 Forester as it has room for people and dogs and creature comforts. Thanks for the thoughts!
