Tachometer Illumination
So, I've searched and found a few threads regarding aftermarket tachometer illumination. I've wired up my Autometer Autogage tach, and now need to illuminate it.
I saw that you can use an add-a-fuse in slot #23 as shown here (I have the mini add-a-fuse, but it's only rated to 10 amps): http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...r+illumination ... and I've heard of people tapping into the stereo dimmer wire. Can anyone give me a definite answer as to how to illuminate this tach? Is one way better than another?

So, I did the add-a-fuse thing using fuse #9 and the tach illuminates ... but it stays on even if the car isn't on ... Can I just use any other 10am fuse spot? Can I use any open port with the add-a-fuse?

The output of the light control rheostat (connector D29) controls the radio illumination, AT shift lever illumination, and AC control illumination.
You can tap into the green wire in pin 2 for the negative side of the illumination circuit and any +12V source as your positive (such as the light blue wire in Pin 10). Pin 2 varies from 0 Volts (full brightness) to 12 Volts (fully dimmed). This will allow the tach to dim with the rest of the controls. |

I put the add-a-fuse in slot #7 and it all works fine. Woo hoo. Now let's hope my wiring job holds up.
