Chinese Hummer
I don't much like seeing Hummers on the streets unless there is some special circumstance for them being there, but it rather flips me out that the division of General Motors associated with the production of what is the civilian version of one of our main military vehicles has been purchased by a company located in the nation of China...What is your opinion?

I don't see it as an issue at all.

I am disappointed as I had hoped that the entire Hummer brand would just die and go away once GM said they were done with it.
I find it totally ironic that it's moving to China as the Hummer is a truly non-viable vehicle there. I remember reading a story about a year ago about a Hummer support group for Chinese owners. Not a car club - a support group - where the few of them would get together and talk about how impossible it is to park it, or to get it onto the majority of the roads anywhere in the country, and how much it cost to fill it up.

As far as Hummers being a problem in China. There are places where Hummers would make a lot of sense in China, especially in areas without paved roads. The US has been buying boots, uniforms and other military wear from China for a long time. Especially bugged me hearing that we were buying boots form them. Boot patterns are how you ID people. Imagine if you will Chinese soldiers wearing "American" pattern boots in a skirmish/war with us. Not cool. Gene |

The Chinese already have a Hummer clone,
