California burning

Ugh, it sucks to see smoke everywhere you go. For the last 5 days here in Glendale (L.A. county) it has been hot and smoky. I live about 5mins away from the LaCanada and "Station" fire and I'm getting ashes on my Yaris every morning. This morning I could really smell the fire from by bedroom... and at night I had to close my windows at turn on the a/c instead.

"ashes ashes, we all fall down"

We have the same problem in BC; even Washington State is contributing to our smoke problems. Last number I heard here was in the 500 square kilometers burned, and no containment on some of them. Lots of heat in the forecast, no sign of rain!

Remember the Santiago fires last year? Yikes! Those were only like 10-15 miles away from where I live/work. I'm seeing the LA ones quite a bit since I'm in El Segundo on the weekends.

I just hope Mount Wilson doesn't burn. :(

The mushroom cloud / volcano plume is moving closer to my parts. Good news is that the nearly contained Morris fire should create a natural break. Meantime I just hope it doesn't cook Mt. Wilson. I need my TV

And as of last night you can see the flames from my driveway with the naked eye. Amazing view

it's been pretty bad here in the West Valley. Very smoky and tough to get much work done.

Yeah, hurricanes are a bitch, not doubt about it. Though i live in the country, so being w/o power for 2 weeks just meant that I needed more ice to keep my beer cold :)

I hope everyone stays safe. If your house burns down you can come live with me :)

All that smoke has made its way to Colorado. The sky was uncommonly hazy today and it didn't occur to me why until I saw it on the local news. Same thing happened a couple of years ago when Arizona was on fire.

LA burning seems to be an annual occurrence these days, almost guaranteed. I don't remember it being this common. Are you guys having some sort of major drought or have the Santa Ana's just gotten hotter/drier?

That's my bet too. Though downed powerlines from winds are also notorious. Who knows at this time

Fire season is almost year-round now due to global warming. We've haven't had any Santa Ana's yet, but for now it's the heatwave, slight winds, and dry conditions that are causing the fires to explode in the daytime. These warm nights aren't much help either

Rigth now they're saying it's at 105K acres and it's expected to be out in 2 weeks

Amazing footage. Looks like the view is from West of the 73. I remember driving the 73 home at night and seeing all the hillside lit with orange flames. Not to mention all the ash. I had to stop commuting on my bike since I could barely breathe.

My wife asked me if I wanted to move to CA.. I told her we'd have to live in the city cuz I didn't want to deal with all the fires.

She said what fires...

I turned on CNN... 'nuff said?'

Nothing against all you in CA.. I deal with DFW because i have to. Moving to a place with Earthquakes and the Annual Fire.. .. Not my cup-o-tea.

I'll just deal with the 3 months of scorching heat in the summer and the WAY high electric bills.. We also only get one maybe 2 days of snow.. Other than that.. TRAFFIC TRAFFIC TRAFFIC... At least that is predictable
