OVERWEIGHT PASSENGERS -- Can Yaris withstand?

Don't laugh , but a few years ago, a friend who is extremely obese accompanied me to Europe, got into a taxi cab, broke the front seat and had us thrown out of that cab.

Now, we have a friend coming to visit us, and he is in the range of approximately 300 lbs., and we are wondering whether our Yaris Sedan will be able to withstand this weight in the front passenger seat.

HELP! Any advice and or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

By McDonalds-fueled american standards I guess not

But remmeber the Yaris is a European-designed Japanese car, and there's not thaaat many overweight people in those places (except sumo wrestlers of course, but I doubt they drive Yarii), so it's not really recommended, though I suppose sitting in the back would be OK.

300 lbs will be no problem

now if you have 4 300lb friends in the car, that might not work.

The car should be fine, provided you don't have it lowered, or fitted w/ sport seats... then of course there'll be plenty of clown car jokes...

I would not worry about it . I have had friends in my Yaris HB that are over the 300 lb mark with out a problem with the seats front or back. Only thing I noticed was took a bit more to get the car up to speed , But that is to be expected when adding weight to such a small car/motor

The weight won't be an issue. If he farts, you might have a problem.

I'm 250lb and tend to take the turn as fast a possible. The driver seat is holding up well in my 07 Yaris, but the car is only 3 month hold. Hopefully, it'll just be the seat fabric that wears in the years to come (I tend to wear-out the bottom left corner of the seat fabric for all my previous cars). Even so, I'm keeping an eye out for an extra driving seat from the wreckers, because, from experience, that's always one of the first thing to go.

I just spent a week in the Dodge Caliber and the seats on that car is not meant for anyone above 150lb. I think I already broke them, and the car only has 6000 miles. That car has decent fuel economy and power with the 2.0L CVT, but there's not much else you could say about the car. The chassis feel like it's made out of butter.
