So, you think a centered gauge cluster is new?
This is a '57 Nash "Ambassador Custom" proving that a centered guage cluster made its way into a prduction model as far back as the '50s.

That's awesome! I doubt it was the first with centered gauges, though.

Hey, here's an early Model T dash. No speedometer or gauges, but what it's got is centered:

Haha, somebody watched "My Classic Car" this afternoon on Speed. :) My 30 Chevy has them but not in a pod. Just gauges in the center.

The late 1950s Morris Minor 1000 had a center speedo and a driver glove box too

The center dash goes way back and has been on late model European cars for some time now. Some of them quite spendy too. I think the Yaris has a great one.

It took a little getting used to but I like the centered gauges much better than driver centered. It cuts down on the glare, to me at least, when your looking straight ahead. For a few weeks i kept thinking i'd gone insane for an instant before realizing they were to the right of where i normally looked lol

Sir Alec Issigonis would be pleased with the Yaris layout, I think, although he's probably nix the stereo.
