this should help some. it looks like with 225/45, safe size should be 16 and not 17, but look at the thread, it should help a lot

welcome to YW!

225 is the tire width in millimeters, 45 is the profile of the tire (height of the wall) and 17 is the size of your rims in inches. basically, 225 width on 17 inch tires is too wide, you'll rub if i'm not mistaken. 225 with 45 profile on 16's would be a better choice (assuming you have stock suspension) i'd go with 205/40/17 if you want to keep those rims. hope this helps, but if not i'll try to explain it better

225-45-17's are too tall for the yaris

you want 215-40-17 or 205-40-17

you should try them on first before you get rid of them.. i plan on putting 205/50/17 on the car they should run without rubbing (if you havent touched the suspension) 225 is just the width of the tire.. i would try them on before you go out and go through the hassle of getting new tires :)

Lots of talk about the tires but none about the rims. There are three critical things we need to know about the rims;

1- offset
2- bolt pattern
3- hub bore
