July 2010 Yaris Sales: Down again

Not too surprisingly, Yaris sales were down again in July 2010. July 2009 vs. July 2010 sales were down 46.1% (3,069 sold); year-to-date sales were down 40.9% (26,058).

Fine by me. I bought mine in July 2010 and poor sales helped me get what i think is an OK price and 0% financing.

This is not surprising since the Yaris is about 4 model years old. My 2010 Yaris Hatchback sat in the dealers lot for 8 months. The 2010's do have the Star Safety System that I waited to get.
I traded a 1990 Honda Civic EX that I owned for 20 years for my Yaris. It actually makes no economic sense to buy a better equipped Yaris since there are better similarly priced small cars out there and many better new ones coming soon. I stayed with Toyota only because of the better reliability experience I had with my mom's 1990 Toyota Celica ST which she also owned for 20 years. And yes I like Toyota's with a VIN that starts with a 'J'.

Funny to see the Fiesta already on top of the Yaris when it has barely been on sale yet. I have yet to see one anywhere.

I think one of the main reasons is price at the pump went down again,
from the oil crunch we had a few years ago.
I know where I live there seem to be more big trucks and SUVs than ever,
stupid people have not learned.
when gas goes 4+$ Gal. and stays there and does not go down again but only up, this time for good.
small car sales will go way up again, soon enough.

this is why I am having a friend whip me up a vinyl rear window sticker of calvin taking a dump, not peeing, on an SUV I can't wait to get it and put it on my car for a while.

Gas is headed back up here, and there has been an explosion of Yarii in my small town of about 40,000. Most even have aftermarket wheels. Still no waves though

I know why.

The Yaris starts rattling after 500 miles. Word gets around.

First it was my dashboard, then the hatch, now the little window on the driver's side.

. Only a matter of time before something occurs to make gas prices spike again and the recession gets worse . CHINA car sales have passed us . Thus their thirst will increase . My other 1/2s' sister says she'll buy another FORD Explorer because it's safer than a smaller car . She was paying $100 a week for gas when it was at its peak . She would have to ask relatives for money to fill the tank to get to work . Her payment is over $600 a month . Some people will never learn .

What strange to me is, I feel like I'm seeing more Yari than before. Maybe because its cuz I'm looking for 'em.

Also I have 75k and no rattles for me either.

That's just because they've now been accumulating for 4 years. Even if the lastest sales have tumbled, we're still seeing all the '07's-'10's together.

the fact it seems to always come in last in supermini comparison tests in the auto press hasn't helped I would surmise

just wait until the Mazda 2 and Fiestas are thick on the lots-Toyota dealers will keep virtually no Yarises in stock

:-(

The Yaris in the Netherlands is still a very popular car.
It sold even better than the month before.

yes our cousins in the Hague just bought one and love it Breda

but this might well be the most competitive auto segment so as new models come out, older models fall off quickly in sales I think.

plus the euro yaris has many features that are superior to the usa model- both in safety, convenience and in mpg (small gas motors and a diesel)

We moved from an Avalon to a Yaris just this month. While everywhere I look I see Tahoes and other Yank Tanks, it's fine and dandy with me that I can bypass the gas stations while they stand there filling up for $100. Nah. I'll save my money for something more important than gasoline. We changed model for a couple of reasons, but one of them was the gas savings.

We kept our Avalon for 9 years. I did some calculating, and if we keep the Yari for that long, we will almost be getting the Yaris for free, due to the savings in gas over the 9 years we drove the Avalon. We drove it around 150,000 miles in those years, with about 500 fillups.

I'll take an "almost" free car any day.

I wonder if my car rattles. I'm nearly deaf cause of constant loud music.
