Bicycle rack for yaris sedan?
I am looking for the best brand/design bicycle rack for a yaris sedan. The ones that mount to the roof i wonder if they leave scratches overtime. The kind I have seen that are under 100 that mount to the trunk seem the most likely to scratch. Ive also seen some that mount to a tow hitch that would appear to be the best to protect the paint. But first requires you to purchase a tow hitch to use it.

There are quite a few posts about this on yarisworld. I want to chime in before the hitch rack guys jump all over it and drown me out. I have a roof rack on my Sedan. I love it. I think it looks awesome. Personally, I think the hitch rack looks alright on a hatchback, but not on a sedan.
My rack is a yakima q-tower system with two frontloader attachments. It works great. |

Look in the photo section for the pictures I took of JumpmanYaris. He has a nice setup on his sedan.

Roof racks for sure look wayyy better. I have a Thule 400xt base with 48in load bars and a 38in front fairing. Here is a link to some pics on MI.

What I did for my hatchback, was to get a hitch, hitch basket, and a 3 bicycle adapter for the basket.
You can get all the items on Amazon or through sites dedicated to trailer hitch equipment for ~ $250, which is no more than a nice hitch rack itself. It does require me to tie the bikes down with straps, but it also lets me carry coolers or camping gear and generally never need to borrow my brother's truck. |

is this a no?....
i got this bad boy for free (no not the bike). the pics without the bike on it have the extra padding i added. at this point it seems pretty legit i dont think the paint is in jeopardy unless i leave it on for extended periods of time (which i dont). i just have to get some rubber tie down straps to hold the bikes on more secure and a better way to tie it under the bumper. i also dont think i would put more than 2 bikes on it as im afraid it might be too heavy and possibly dent the trunk. i think its fine for now just have to drive more aware when its hooked up.
