How To Fix This?

I have en extension cord out side my house which I use to run my chainsaw, leafblower, weedwacker, snowblower, block heater and many other things.

The probelm is the end of the cord female outlet goes bad every year and I have to replace it.

How can I keep it good?

They dont sell outdoor sockets at the hardware store and I tried putting a plastic bag over the end without happiness.

The best way is to bury plastic conduit and put an outdoor outlet on a post. That's how I have been running my koi pond pump / winter ice hole melter for about 10 years now.

You could TRY putting kid safe plugs into it....or you could TRY using a 3 prong female/2 prong mail indoor converter that you don't care about ruining. Both of these MIGHT work, but also might yield iffy or completely unsatisfactory results. Even though you might have to seek out a different hardware store (and it is more involved), CTScott's solution is MUCH better and MUCH safer. If you choose CT's better route, and have to go to a different hardware store, get the type of dual plug 3-prong outdoor receptacle that has a little plastic dome over it (such receptacles are required to meet code here, but not in some parts of the country). I imagine that this is what CT means by 'outdoor outlet' (as I imagine this would be code in the Tri-State area as well).
