Yaris resale value....must be whopping!

I was in the market a while back looking at cars and thought I would check on how the ol' Yaris is doing in the private sale market.

DAMN! You couldn't get one for under $9K, even after 4 years and 100k on it. They are so popular and must be holding up so good.

I remember I bought mine for $11k new in 2008.

I never hear anything negative about the Yaris, and for the most part other Toyota cars in general.

Yeah, I bought my 07 last summer for $9k and change, with 88k miles on it, after the AC in my VW died, which was the last straw and also didn't give me much time to shop around. The only sign of its age is the pitted windshield.

Where in Texas are you?

Ya, I always look from time to time, and I've noticed the prices are going up.

I paid $6000. for my 08 with 78k on the clock. Today just 3 months later, I could get close to $8k.

I bought my Yaris for $12k with 46k and I was trying to get a different car a week or so ago and had them appraise it and with 50k - 51k it's worth $11k.

Got lucky on mine. $6k with 80k miles and transferable warranty until 100k miles. It's the perfect car.

Paid 12,632 in April 2008. KBB list it as 8,853 with 55k miles. It dosen't really matter. I'll be the first, last, and only owner of this car.

I bought my 2010 in Jan 2011 with 2,500 miles on it. Was a demo the dealer here got from a dealership east of here. Paid $13,500. KBB says it is worth $11,000 now with 40,000 miles on it. No reason not to keep it until it just won't run anymore.

I got mine new with the only option of the 15 rims and Xm radio for 13k out the door. The local dealer wanted 15.5k and would not budge on price. I called around and drove 80 miles for the one I have now. This was for a 2010 in 2010.
After rereading the title, I apologize for the comment. It has really nothing to do with the subject.

wish i could get close to what you guys are saying for mine. 07 hb,auto-trade in values stink. refuse to sell it myself after seeing lots of problems doing it that way. guy in chicago answered a craigslist ad a few days ago and went to see a used car. left his girlfriend in her car, went in, got robbed of his pants and then they went out to the girlfriend and got the money they brought with to buy the car they got off with $5,000-trade in sounds better by the day to me. just sayin'

seriously, who brings cash to buy a car? totally stupid move. And that is chicago too, a horrid place if there ever was one.

Selling it yourself will easily get you more money. Just be smart. Don't let anyone drive it, don't let anyone come into your house, and don't trust anyone for any reason. Make them pay with a money order, preferably from the post office.

If they want to take it to a mechanic, only let them do it after they hand you a valid money order for the full purchase price, and get a written contract that states the sale is not valid until both parties agree on it.

^^^^^ This.
Plus, I would only agree to meet at Starbucks or some equally conspicuous place. I live in a very safe zip code and my HOA pays for LEOs to patrol...and I still don't answer my front door unless I can look out a window from upstairs and see on my front walk that it is one of my neighbors. I've purchased a new car with money orders before, but only when I was visiting multiple dealers in the same day 'pitting' for the best deal.
