Need advice: Cutting fender liners

Alot of people say taking out fender liners straight out is harmful. So i am planning to reattach and cut some parts where rub. What are the most common rubbing spots in the front fender liner? How much do you cut from people who already experienced this and successfully removed rub pleases post pictures. It will help me alot I run 16x7 40offset. I think greatest reason i rubbed is because one of my fender liner clips on top was ripped out but i rubbed on turns alot before i fully removed the inner liner?

I let mine rub for a while to get an idea of how much to cut. Once you see where it's rubbing, just cut 1/4" around the area.

That's odd, never heard of anyone getting a bubble on their tire from rubbing on the fender liner. How is your side wall rubbing? Mine only rubbing the tread. If I can, I'll try to get some pics tomorrow if it's not raining, but it will not be at the same place due to the difference in wheel specs.

How/why does the 16X7, 40mm offset wheels, 185/50 combination rub anywhere at all? It is slightly shorter than the stock setup but the same width and offset...

I am concerned/curious because I am planning on getting 16X7, 40mm offset wheels with 195/50-16...

TIA

OP and you normally wouldn't have problems (I had the same spec wheels, and 205/45/16 tires). However, OP did say his fender liner was broken and is sagging a bit.

Yes my fender liner is sagging and my car is dropped quite a bit on lowered springs not coils. I took off the fender liner for now while its nice out and i have no trouble. Drove with two other buddies in the car and it was fine. I just recommend low profile tires like 185/40/16 but thats not possible around here because ohio roads blow

OP meant to say his tire size is 165/55/16, not 50 series.
Yaristeve, you shouldn't have any problems with your setup you posted.
