ok, past all the hype....do grounding kits really do ANYTHING? Other than look pretty that is.

The theory is that the better the ground the better the engine will run ect...but can someone please explain how a better ground to the engine can result in HP gains or a better running engine?

If it really is a noticable increase I would definately install one or fab my own, it just doesnt make alot of sence to me.

The theory behind the grounding wires is that it makes the whole electrical system, and thus, the ignition, more consistent, and allows for a more powerful spark- thus burning more of the fuel and air that mix in your combustion chamber.

Don't expect any huge gains, though- it's usually a 1-2% gain.

You can't feel the difference, but the logic makes sense so I'll leave mine in place.

As always,in combination with things that net small gains add up to alot,you save your pennys dont you.
And Chino is right,for the money,its a must have.

If you absolutely have to buy one, get the cheapest one you can. please don't buy a "jdm" or blitz or whatever japanese brandname they try to sell you for 3x the price. just get the cheapo ebay kit for 20-25$.

they all do the same thing! you would be buying a sticker with the name of the "jdm" brand on it.

the current has an easier flow...less resistence across the circuit. This is the FIRST thing you should do for a sound system setup. The second thing would be to put a nicer battery in the vehicle.

Got one in my car, i have to say that it's really help, but maybe it's just in your head. But i'm satisfied for the price.

But my dome light kinda blinking when the doors open. Is this normal?

well, I made my own yesterday. fabbed a steel bracket that connects to the nagative battery terminal. I am using 4 gauge stereo-style ground wire. I am connecting the grounds to the rear firewall next to the ECU, the starter, a ground point next to the throttlebody, the alternator bracket, and the radiator support. The cost? 0 dollars. It was made using wire I had left over from previous stereo instalations, and the bracket was made from scrapmetal I had laying around. It probbly is not as pretty as some of the grounding kits I have seen, but I blacked out the bracket and stashed it on the side of the battery housing and I hid the wires so they wont be seen.

P.S. and yes, I count my pennies, I am poor, hence why now I drive a Yaris

EDIT: I am still on the fence about it helping my engine have hotter spark, but, I figure it is good since I have a stereo system and the added grounds will help my starter and alternator last longer.

I just changed my plugs,cleaned MAF,replaced Tranny oil,flushed/replaced oil&filter with synthetic mobil1,cleaned and re-oiled the reusable filter, cleaned throttle body,ported polished and high heat painted header,raised the idle speed to 900rpm, and still it seems to go back...
Also I checked my battery,checked for engine code and alot more stuff....

prob not. all it does is provide a better current/less resistance to ground. which will probably not help your idle at all.
