My new toy~

Well, I finally did it. Mustered up the cheese and imported a car. Here in just shy of a month it arrives, too! It's a 1989 300zx twin turbo 2+2! I've loved these cars since I was but a wee lad etc etc. Had one a few years back, traded it for my GF's current car, a 2001 celica. Anyhow, have some pictures.

Here's some dealer pics.

As far as I know the only aftermarket parts are the work wheels, kakimoto exhaust, turbo timer, and steering wheel. Which as of this point, I am happy with! Hopefully this gives me a nice solid platform to work with from the start. Interestingly enough (to me at least) it appears to have USDM spec lights, but the tail lights could be anyone's guess because is the dealer pics it has Jspec tails, but in the port pictures which you see now....it looks to have USDM. could be lighting. who knows?! I've already nabbed j-spec corner and side lights, I can buy new tails if need be. Also, Yaris.

Don't worry. My Yaris is NOT going anywhere. I love it too much.

I'm with you, I love these as well. I know how much they cost here, but how much more does it cost to have a RHD one imported here?

I paid 8400 shipped to my front door. Sadly that's close to a good one in my area that's not molested lol

Nice find! And for $8400 what a deal! Did you have to go through a broker?
Since it meets the 25-year criteria, I suppose it wasn't too hard to register it.
I bet the tail lights were switched out either because it needed to meet US specs
or someone else really wanted those. hehe. Looking forward to seeing what you're planning for it.

Yeah, I ended up going through a broker just to make it easier on myself for this time. there's a few other cars I'd like myself, and after seeing the required paperwork I'll be much more confident in doing so without help. My Japanese is only getting better, so language barriers are getting smaller :) Plus, the Z is riding shotgun in a container with an R32, so I can go drool all over that too~ R32, Z32, that container should be labeled something silly to match.

Also, according the websites with the listing of the Z, it has been lowered. Does not say if it's on coil overs or just springs, though. I'll just order Jspec tails :p Nissan still supplies brand new ones for cheap, so win win there!

My plans are subtle, just going to shoot for a little more power. Going to redo the turbos and piping, and get nistune so I can learn how to tune and further my knowledge on how cars work. Then replace interior with leather or novasuede from interior innovations.

Saw this car for sale on their website. Very good price IMO. Jealous! Someday I'm going to have Elvin Wes (import/exporter) pick me up a JDM Celica to match my USDM one

I actually went through one of Elvin's partners lol. Very nice guys to deal with.

Website said that car had somewhere around 220000 km, so roughly 140k miles? I'm assuming it's on its 3rd engine by this point. It has some paperwork that will hopefully say.

Nice! I'm in talks with the Japanese Mini Truck dealer (like actual miniature trucks). Those are the ones I'm having keep an eye out for me a Celi. They can be had much cheaper than a TT Z32 simply because they aren't a trendy Jap sports car, haha.

I want to import a Kei car next. I have a small car fetish, otherwise known as hot hatchback syndrome lol. that's why I originally bought the yaris!. A turbo Kei car is one of my dream cars. As long as it's not an alto.

kei-trucks are so cool! I've been following the auction pages for kei cars and lately they seem to be going for sub 1000 bucks! some even under 300! Now if only we could fill a container with them, making shipping like 200 bucks too.

I'm right there with you! Love the Kei cars as well and they always seem to go for dirt cheap. Sadly I too have a bit of a hatch fetish I own 3 now.

All I want are all the z's and an assortment (like a box of chocolates) of kei cars and trucks :p

I ordered clear corner lights and clear fender blinkers to keep it clean. I'll order tails for it when it arrives so I can confirm what it has first lol.

Here's a few I've taken so far. One with the Yaris!

One after a bath, it was very dusty.

I got clear corner and side markers, put them in the other day. Just need JDM tail lights so I will have no orange.

and my new shift knob. It took 4 days to get here from japan. I am shocked, I've never had anything arrive that fast. Didn't even pay for super shipping either. Sadly, the shift knob is much too tall for my liking. Maybe a shorter shift lever will solve this....
