brakes - how may km.

so far im at 86000 kms and still have the same brakes, just wondering if anyone else is getting the same .

Every vehicle that I owned with a manual transmission has gotten phenomenal mileage on the original brakes. I do use the transmission as well as brakes for slowing the vehicle which undoubtedly makes this possible.

I just had my 48000 km service and brakes were at 80% front and 90% rear remaining. I do travel approx 50 km to work each way every day on the highway.

Good to know, I skipped out on the inspection package for my 48000km service and just got them do the filters & oil change.

I wish the tires were as durable as the brakes. Mine where in poor shape (mostly do to all the hard driving) and I just replaced them at 55,000km. I got Toyo Spectrum (175/65/14) which are more tenacious then the stock and quieter, but they make the steering feel more light and are a little more wiggly in the cross wind (probably cause of the solid centre groves for channeling rain). All in all, I'm very happy with the tires.

I wish my tires would have lasted that long. I replaced mine at 35,000km as winter was about to start and there was less than 30% remaining. I went for the Yokohama Avid Touring with their 150,000 km wear out warranty. They have provided a much firmer and controllable ride. They are fantastic in the snow and rain as well.

Yes, I agree that driving styles matter. Incidentally, I think that many, if not every, of the more common fuel saving driving techniques can also help prolong the life of brake pads.
