Yaris drivers help the environment

Not only are we saving money now, but we are saving for our childrens future on this earth. Props to all.
I admit I was not aware of this when I bought the vehicle. But since buying the Yarii I have been researching everything I could find about this little car. This led me to CleanMPG (thanks BailOut), fueleconomy.gov, greenercars, and many other sites. Learned alot, but still alot more to learn.

'The Greenest of 2007

This year, the natural gas-powered Honda Civic GX claims the title as the greenest vehicle of the year. Toyota's hybrid-electric Prius, which places second, is the year's top-scoring gasoline vehicle, while Honda's Civic Hybrid ranks a close third. Rounding out the top five are the recently released Nissan Altima Hybrid and Toyota Yaris. In total, the Greenest Vehicles list contains one natural gas, four hybrid-electric, and seven conventional gasoline vehicles, a mix of technologies that demonstrates some of the avenues automakers have taken in developing greener vehicles. Whether using hybrid gasoline-electric designs, compressed natural gas, or simply clean and efficient conventional gasoline designs, automakers have visibly demonstrated their ability to engineer with the environment in mind.'

Just to let everyone know, the Nissan Altima Hybrid uses the TOYOTA PRIUS Hybrid Engine/ Technology:

http://www.soultek.com/clean_energy/...hybrid_car.htm

Quote:
The Nissan Altima Hybrid car, much like the Ford Escape Hybrid SUV, borrows Toyota's gasoline-electric hybrid system. Eventually, however, Nissan will replace the Toyota hybrid drive with a proprietary hybrid drive.

well we're not helping the environment per se. our cars may spew little pollutants but they still do generate them, so minimizing our impact on the environment wouldbe a better term

if you wanna truly help the environment, ride a bicycle

err ride a bike for 25 miles per day to get to work??? I'd have to start at the crack of dawn to make it in time and when I get home, it'll be after 10 or so. I kow it doesn't help completely but instead of us driving more pollutants-generating vehicles, we're lessening it by driving a yaris.

ah as long as you don't mess around with the ECU it should not make a huge difference. i wonder how your exhaust system affects it, though any EPA office nearby?

hehehe it was a joke

But yeah, like I said, we are minimizing our impact, not really making things "better", it's not like any car will remove pollution... Just a pet peeve of mine

I think it'll be very hard to have a car that removes pollutants but I'd sure like to see them try.

The best way to help the environment is to stop making babies.

The planet is fine.....global warming is happening but it would happen even if there were no cars, no industry.

I bought the Yaris for it's economy, and I didn't even give the planet a thought when I plunked my cash down.

The planet's been around 4.6 billions years...it can take care of it's self.

Drive your Yaris and be happy. Besides, the trees and plants love the carbon monoxide....

A few years with no new babies would be tough on the stroller industry... hehe

yeah, that's a pet peeve of mine as well, the yaris is about half as bad as the average suv, which means it is still on the opposite side of good.

but i tend to agree with part of what pavel ovalich says, the planet will do fine without us, we probably can't do any lasting damage to it once we're gone.
