Exclamation shopping around

I'm looking to put a 12'' sub in the trunk of my 3dr liftback. What I am wanting to do is take out the spare and build a box in it's place where it is flush with where the cover would origilally be. I would like to keep the trunk functional to some degree i'm debating on whether or not to keep the little cubbies that are on either side of the spare, or would they make it more difficult to build the box? The funcionallity of the trunk is preferrable, but i would like to know whether or not that would even be possible. If you guys could, would you post some pictures of some boxes that are flush installs and give me a quote on about how much it would cost to do it?

Cost depends on whether you are going to buy material and do it by yourself, or just drop if off at a shop.

Personally I love the cubbies, but if you had a box in the centre of the trunk, as high as the cover was, the cubbies would be uncovered. I think if you did that, then you could make some sweet carpeted mdf covers for the cubbies that you could remove easily for storage.

ok. so i went and priced my things. and what i'm getting is a PowerBass 2XL 12'' subwoofer(bout 170) with a twister 500watt amp(270ish). and a custom box that will be three different levels, so that it will fit in the trunk where the spare and cubby holes will be (this will be another 300 or so dollars and i am sacrificing the cubbies :'( ). i don't really know how much labor will be bur i figure it will cost me about 850 dollars more or less to get things to where i want them. what do you guys think? does this sound like a pretty good deal?
